I have a cat, beautiful cat. Long and sleek. It watches me in the yard, sometimes it will come to me, sometimes it won't. At night, it will lay on my chest with it's paws turned in and under like cats do, purr and watch me through half open eyes. Then out of no where it will bite the fuck out of me and scratch me, drawing blood and running off. I really love my cat. I do.

Is this an analogy? *raises eyebrow*

None of my cats have ever scratched me. I train them to play claws-in.
My current part-feral kitty has a habit of jumping out at my feet as I'm walking past, wrapping her front paws around my ankle and biting into my sock... then she just hangs there to get dragged around the floor.
But she's a seriously wierd cat who thinks she's a dog.

You've just described my cat perfectly. She hates me, but pretends to be affectionate when other people are around, knowing that they won't believe me when I say how mean she is. She'll lull me into a false sense of security, purring and cuddling and then *bam* flips on a dime, and out comes the claws. So frigging annoying - and yet she stays because the rest of the household adores her.

Good deal on the first part. As for the second, short wood is never a good thing.

So your wood went a long way in the laying process, but not quite long enough? Am I understanding this correctly?

It always seems to go that way, you either have enough left to do a whole room or you are just short.

You are supposed to calculate the square footage and then add 15% to it.

This. You try to do it exact and you'll always be short. It's impossible to accurately account for bad pieces, cuts that will never match, etc.
Nobody wants to do this because it's more money but you're going to spend it anyway.
