Thoughts?

and if the thread hadn't already been hijacked bad enough STORY IDEA!

I hang my head in shame and apologize to the OP.

so back to the OP, Why write a modern world scenario where magic has to be hidden. Could you imagine a modern world where Allomancy is real and known? How easy would it be to build skyscrapers? Three talented coinshots and twenty pounds of powdered steel, and all the beams are in in a day.

That is a world I would love to write, but I need the right story. I am thinking non-erotic for that endeavor though.

Such worlds tend to get really crazy really fast. They can be fun but you really have to settle in for shit to get bonkers.

I do agree that the hidden magic thing is a tad cliche but I'm a strong believer that there is something to be said for being the very best at what you do you instead of being the only one doing what you do. I.E. being original.

I think like I said before that step one is developing these characters and then building everything else around them.

Last warning. If you have something constructive to add then by all means. Otherwise be silent and let people who are willing to continue in good faith rather than snark share, lovecraft.

I've thought about it, and I'm at least leaning towards one of the possibility later on in the series. Part of the reason, as will be developed in the storytelling, is that for a long time magicians were ostrasized at best, at worst you had the real possibility of being burned at the stake.

The community would be slowly recovering in numbers and you'd not have quiet enough people to actually be able to act in the open, and you'd have people who were saying they had magic, but were charlatans. So you'd have a normally mistrustful group of people who potentially have a bad wrap already who don't have the sheer numbers needed to actually enter the workforce in the ways you are saying. That being said...you hAve given me some ideas that I will be incorporating. Would you be interested in a more frequent sounding board role?
