And, those that cannot teach... And, those that cannot teach, consult...
My attention is distracted by the bouncing banana on my right as its perpetual motion tends to annoy rather than motivate or inspire... Still, we must continue....
I recall a time when Jim Morrison of the Doors, Simon and Garfunkel of ..., The Lovin Spoonful, Bob Dylan (not Dylan Thomas), Jefferson Airplane (now Starship, I believe), were the lyrical heroes that inspired me to conceptualize a future where we were all brothers and sisters, where we basked in the light of "free love," and being a "free spirit," and honesty, respect, integrity, and ethics were the bonds of the human race and human beings, regardless of age, sex, race, and religion.
Now, we are in a cyber age where anything goes, not necessarily because that is the way we really want it to be, but because it can go that way...
We are in a society of: Collective Unconscious Civil Disobediance, where being an American means that we have the "right" to break the law, not obey it. Where our Freedoms have taken us away from "...and to the Republic for which it stands..."
We now spend our time in cyberland pretending and living out fantasies, many of which will never come to pass... and, if they do, then, the experience leaves us hollow and we want more......
However, we do have First Amendment Freedom of Speech rights, do we not? And, the US Constitution states that we should pursue happiness...
So, in the spirit of the law (not necessarily in its letter) and taking into account the flavor of the 60's, I would like to draw upon my fellow "hippies," of a bygone day to revisit those days and bring back the fires of the rebel, of the free spirit, of free love, and let's sound out our pursuits of happiness by identifying who we are and were and not so much what we have become, in this forum wherein my thoughts reside today....
"We are shielded in
the loose-fitting clothes
of our failures, yet we
continually change our
dress to the seasons
of our dreams"
Let me hear from you guys and gals. Let's show this new generation how we can
love each other and experience life in a real, honest, and sincere way and that we do not need to hide behind our Avatars, because we are and will always be, "who we really are..."
I am from the 60's. I went to college in the 60's, as well as Woodstock and Vietnam. I experienced all that life had to offer then, regardless of the consequences or the parental influences to, "do as I say, not as I do." Marlon Brando, James Dean, the rebels of poor and middle class, respectively. We determined fashion in clothes, art, and hair...
And, while we may be retiring soon and some may say that we are too old to cut the mustard, I will say in response that, this may be true, but I can still lick the jar.
Well now, what spirits have have evoked in you, speak it, say you, or forever hold your peace...
