All my sons played soccer till they were about twelve. Wrestling was more their passion, I have one son coaching at the high school level and hopefully is older and younger brother will follow suit.

I started at 3 and played up until U19 Premier. Then life really started. :eek: I was on the pitch 4 weeks after my second was born but recreationally and for fun. A bit of indoor and futsal and then of course, coaching. Nothing serious because other soccer keeps me fully occupied. I love the game. I actually watched U19 Super Group men play on Sunday. Good times. Barcelona came into town and got whipped. :cool:

Good to have passions... life is just too short not to be passionate about something. I have a feeling you rub off on you children... probably damn competitive too.

I played the usual growing up baseball and football. In high school just football got really injured in soph year and then picked up on boxing for a while.

Your photographs remind me of a time when all we lived for was to play... However, when I was growing up there were more pickup games of baseball and football in the vacant lots in the neighborhood. I don't see that much anymore... kind of miss un adult supervised days.

I was never allowed to play for school. :( The Clubs made your parents sign contracts that wont allow players to play any other sports, and no soccer with anyone but the club. So, I played Club Soccer only. Well, at least from age 11 and on.

I loved playing. It was and will always be one of the highlights of my life. I was closer to my teammates than most of my family. We trained, traveled and were inseparable as kids. We're all grown now and still share great memories of when we were together. I can only hope, my 'mini's' get as much joy out of it than I did. You only live once, and you should make it grand. :)

Maybe I should leave that for my tell all book when I get old ;)
