Barr was fired for this, ABC abruptly canceled “Roseanne” hours after Ms. Barr, the show’s star and co-creator, posted a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, an African-American woman who was a senior adviser to Barack Obama throughout his presidency and considered one of his most influential aides. Ms. Barr wrote if the “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.”

Roseanne lost her career over a joke and political views, the View is a show the network has to constantly apologize for and is threat of lawsuits over...and they'll never lose their job

My wife watched them a few years back, decided to check the show out again, and after a couple of episodes told me she's never seen a group of more hate filled lunatics on TV.

This is a woman who would bleed blue for most of her life, but the last couple of years its turning to purple.

Its never to late to wake up and see where the true hate is.

Actually, she did agree, and has walked back the comment.
She also says it was (or at least should have been) obvious from her body language and the tone she used, that she didn't really mean it. I don't know for sure if that's true because I didn't watch it. And I don't believe for a second that you did either.

She actually said it. So exactly how does her saying "it was a joke" after the fact excuse her for it? And, if that excuse works for her, then does it also work for others who use racial slurs? And if that works, then why was Barr fired originally?

BTW, I can't stand Barr. I find her humorless, bland, and without much talent except to have a voice which grates on my nerves.

The point here is that people have been fired for saying less than that. People have been banned from this forum for saying less than that. People have gone to prison for saying things like that.

And yet you're ok with it in this instance "because it was a joke."

Personally, I believe you're ok with it not because it was a joke, but because it was directed at a group of people you spread hate about. And here's the thing about that; even if that's not true, that's the PERCEPTION you give out with the tone and tenor of your commentary in support of the tone/tenor of Fonda's "joke." You support and excuse bad behavior because it furthers your cause.

This is on you and everyone like you who does the same. Your actions empower people like Fonda to say things like this because they know without a doubt that you have their back.

Please don't bother to post that I do the same because I'm some kind of Trump supporter. I have been VERY CLEAR from day 1 that I don't support criminal acts and bad behavior. Not yours, not Trump's, not Fonda's.
