Love the idea as a publicity stunt but I would highly caution against donating for now.

I'm not familiar with all the details of S.J.Res 34, and while I'm sure it's icky, I'm also sure that it does not make it possible for ISPs to sell data for specific individuals. That's not how this works.

But now some random dude has $80k. Hope he does something good with it. The site he's building is down for now - he says it's traffic/server issues, which is plausible. Will keep an eye on it.

That's exactly what it does.

What I mean is that there's no way for the guy to do what he's claiming to raise money for. The reason ISPs want in is so they can play in an established marketplace, and "I would like to buy all of Sean's interwebs history, please!" is not how it works.

It might be true that there's no law on the books that prevent them from doing so, but that's because this is still largely unregulated territory and flooded with tech lobbying $$.
