So, where I'm living at the moment has a nice little square out the front, bit of grass, the odd sapling and a couple of benches on a paved section. It's been rather sunny today and I didn't want to stay indoors so I camped myself on one of the benches with a pack of cigarettes, coffee and a good book (Pratchett - Going Postal). In deference to the day I sacrificed my usual jeans for a black gypsy skirt and black t-shirt, nice sunglasses, and black wedge sandals.

Been sat there about an hour minding my own buisness when the next-door-but-one neighbours come out to go shopping or something, and I overhear,

"Is that her from number [x] on the bench?"
"Err... I think so."
"My god. A Goth in daylight. I thought she only went out at night."

It just tickled me, and as soon as I heard them drive off I spent a good ten minutes creased up laughing.

Funny thing is, I'm here that little at the moment the only time anyone sees me is when I'm heading to the pub >.<

LOL. Aren't neighbors great? Once when I worked straight midnights, my neighbor said something to me like "It must be nice to be single and out partying all the time!" I guess she didn't happen to notice I only went out "partying" dressed in a gray suit, high heels and a neckerchief?! :p

What did/are you doing, work wise?

I don't mind the neighours around here, they're a friendly bunch *grin* I like freaking them out occasionally too.

"A Goth in Daylight" would make a fine title for a story. That's a really lovely vignette you posted. You framed the scene just right, I felt I was there.

Wow, this really is an authors hangout. :rose:

*blush* Thank you. I thought with all the whining and downer riding I've been posting lately I ought to share something lighter.

I get you, but it's not 'light' at all; a very nice bit of writing. :)
