Here I got all the time in the world to read the posts and leave comments. But I am too damned stoned to be able to do so and sound like I still have a brain.

It took 80 minuets for the pain killers to kick in this morning. Now they are working just fine. Too fine.

I can't read, which is my second most favorite thing to do in the world. I can't concentrate enough.

So what do I do? Watch day time TV. My God how long has this shit been going on?!? Where are they finding all these morons at? Why do these people want to go on national television and make total fucking fools out of themselves?

All of these court room shows, the talk shows, the infomercials... And the dating shows. They have some weird things like the 5th wheel, elimidate. Why would you want to do this?

I can feel my IQ dropping.

And I have another month of this?

Damn

But Schoolteacher as the month goes on and you need pain meds less and less, you will be able to concentrate and go back to posting and reading like you enjoy.

Hmmm actually after typing that sentence, I am glad you are on meds and can't give me a grade on it.

What about Books on Tape? You could listen to what you want to read. There are also video productions of alot of the A&E movies of books, as well as old movies. You could ask someone to go rent you a few, if that's accessable. Hope these help, and that the pain dies away fast.

My personal favorites are the you're a loser commercials. You know the ones... auto mechanic, tractor trailer, earn a degree by mail, and sue for big bucks commercials.

Hi Teach ....

Try watching the soaps .....

Just trying to figure out who was married to who ( or is it whom?), who's having an affair with who, who's whomevers love child, who's ploting to kill who, who hid the DMA results, who's that mystery lady. who's secretly a CIA agent and who let the dogs out will keep your mind spinning.

:D

Hi! Good to see you posting. The books on tape idea is a good one. If you fade out, just listen to them a few more times!

I hate being so sick that I have to stay home from work just because day time TV is so horrible. A month of that stuff would make your mind go to mush WITHOUT any drugs to help you.

stoned people can use the internet. i thought the buttons would get all blurry?? i don't get stoned but i have been drunk and let me tell you...the internet is not going to be surfed by a drunk Star

Books on tape

Good idea, I'll have to get the wife to run me over to the library to look at some. I have never listened to one as I have heard that they sort of condense the story like Reader's Digest.

I am getting into these trial shows. This morning I watched Power of Attorney, and then Judge Judy, both on for an hour. Then Springer came on. Holy shit.

You'd think that with 150 channels I could find something to watch. But all the good shows are on in the evenings.

I got to stop bitching about this so consider this my last bitching message. Lots of good stuff going on also. My leg feels a lot better than it did a week ago. Time is passing and healing me. Won't be long before I am out doing my daily walk with the dog. Can't wait.

Well, let me go look at some of the new messages and see what is up. Talk to all ya'll later.
:)

Hey Teach,
Vent all you need! I feel for you, hon.
When you tire of TV or books on tape, I have a game that's quite addictive.
www.snood.com

You can download the free demo. It's something that passes the time without requiring too much brain activity. And, it's even more fun on vicoden. ;)

Hang in there!

Watch PBS.
Watch the Animal Channel.
Watch the Travel Channel.
Watch the History Channel.

There are *lots* of things to watch on TV that won't necessarily result in an immediate and irrevocable loss of IQ points. Check out all those minor channels, you know, the ones your eyes slide past when you're cruising TV Guide looking for something to use up a spare hour until Friends or Survivor or The McNeil-Leher News Hour comes on.
cym... who is mean to her kids and won't let them watch much of what ALL their friends get to watch and so we know a lot about those minor channels instead.

some of them are condensed. but they'll say on the box that they're abridged.

Just an idea

How about renting one of the box sets to a television series, such as "Upstairs, Downstairs", "Brideshead Revisited", "I, Claudius", "Roots"?

I found popping in another episode of "Brideshead" beat out getting caught with Jerry Springer as I recouped from an operation a while ago.

Feel better soon.

Glad I could help with your boredom :) There is also a device available (I think you could probably rent one, I'm not sure though) that will scan words and say them out loud. I heard of it from a friend, so I'm not sure how good they are, but it might be worth a shot.

I am cutting back a bit on the pain killers. Hoping it will allow for more concentration. Then I can read again. It already seems to be working with Lit. I can follow along a little better.

I actually slept in bed last night! Only for four hours, but it is a start. I hate it when I am not sleeping next to my wife.

So things are looking up.

I really miss my classroom. I miss my students. I miss talking. Hell I am used to talking most of the day. I am glad my dog likes to listen.

I am starting to get the Christmas spirit, that helps a lot also.

It won't be long before I am back at work, wishing I was just about anyplace else. :p

Damn, I wish I had been taught by more teachers like you when I was in High School, it would have made for more interesting classrooms. If it makes you feel any better, I'm sure your students miss you. Happy Holidays, and Glad your recovering.

Hi SchOOlteacher

I feel for you about the painkilers doping you up...been there myself....not a lot of fun, no siree.
I took up painting....hmmm maybe I'll sell those abstracts one day...lol

Don't you get any good comedy channels in the US?.....or would it hurt too much to laugh?? :)

Still the Tolkien movie will be released soon.....that's something to look forward to ;) Wonder if the film will be as good as the book?

Anyway just wanted to wish you a speedy recovery!

This is prime time to go through your entire vidoe collection AND your home movies.

(Watching them while drugged makes them more tolerable anyway.)
