This is why I'm not Sherrifs Deputy Material

I was talking with a friend of mine who happens to be a Sherrifs Deputy. He has been trying to get me to join up with his department, to the point of having his boss take me on some ride alongs.

Today he asked me why I didn't think I was the kind of person they wanted on the department.

I gave him a scenario. He, along with his buddies come up to a building with multiple Perps in it. They are sure there are no hostages just as they are sure the Perps are well armed. How would he aproach the situation.

He made comments about surrounding the building and evacuating the nearby buildings. He talked about having a negotiator come in and try to talk them out. He talked about staging and planning. He talked about assaulting the building with FlashBangs and dynamic entry.

He then asked me how I would do the job.

I mirrored much of what he had said, right up until the end. Instead o the Flash Bangs he and other Law Enforcement types advocate I told him I would prefer a large volley of GG04 Grenades. (They launch a bunch o rubber bullet type projectiles.)

This unfortunately wouldn't fly. Too many people would get injured.

He agreed I wasn't cut out to be a Sherrifs Deputy.

I wouldn't be deputy sheriff material either. I would be more concerned with the safety of the good guys than the bad guys.

Ya know they make this lovely little explosive things that sucks everything in.... I like those

I would have collapsed the building on them.
Then hauled them away to the dump with the rest of the debris.

And I was a cop for a while in my career!

Never got to collapse a building though...the bad guys always gave up.
