They downtown protesting about o boy who was killed by the cops in NY. Ok cool, you feel like the cop should of did time so now you are protesting, I could dig that. But this is what makes me mad. We had 8 homicides here, in 8 days. People down there marching for some shit that happened in NY, but people is dying everyday here. That's ass backwards to me.

Welcome to the world.

If the media sheds a spotlight it's news, otherwise it's just another statistic.

You're welcome.

I gotta say that your recent threads are a tad on the angry side. Maybe you need to burn off a little stress this weekend.

I have seemed a little angry lately. I just been venting though, I'm not angry.

I always felt that way about Chicago. You see x number of people killed somewhere and it's big news and yet it's just summer in the city on the south and west sides.

Like when Obama went to Milwaukee about the mosque shooting but never seems concerned about the innocence people and kids killed in his own town.

The media only seems to live for sensation and ratings these days not actually news.

When you throw a rock in the pond, you get ripples. This story being highlighted out of New York is a ripple from being embarrassed by the truth of Ferguson. The rock over Ferguson was thrown, not because anyone had any idea what actually happened, but because Democrats were looking for some "us against them" story to get blacks angry enough to vote when Obama isn't on the ticket. Historically blacks don't vote in midterm elections.

It didn't work, Democrats lost the Senate as expected..and it turns out some black witnesses did the right thing and came forward and admitted that Brown assaulted the cop and was was charging him again when he was shot.

So now they have to pretend that this whole hyped up narrative that blacks need to fear police officers more than hoodlums has to be fed so the don't look silly for pushing that false narrative so hard.

It isn't just a black-white thing. It's classic misdirection. Like us against the Russians, or us against Al Qaeda. It is always important when you can't actually do anything about the problems of your voters to give them someone to hate.

I'm clueless about the details of the events that lend context to the posts in this thread but generally speaking news reporting has always gone for the sensational. People don't want facts, they want stories.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I try to stay away from political discussion on this forum, but I think this is something that needs to be highlighted.

It's become very clear that the sole goal of the mainstream media is to push a dramatic storyline in order to sell more advertising. There is no more dramatic story than the age-old narrative of racism and bigotry in the United States. It gets people angry, and ideally, very interested in staying on the same TV channel.

Why do you think people aren't talking about this story?

http://www.ksdk.com/story/news/crime/2014/12/03/multiple-people-shot-at-south-city-bar/19820261/

If you watch the video clip, you'll notice that they fail to mention that all the attackers were black, and that they began their robbery by shooting a 63-year-old white woman in the back of the head, execution style. Unfortunately, you can only get that information by going to small independent outlets or blogs.

Or how about this story:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/12/0...n-community-sees-hammer-murder-as-hate-crime/

In that story, they don't mention how the murderers were, according to an eyewitness, shouting "kill the white people" before beating the victim to death with hammers. Again, these details can only be found from non-mainstream sources.

Both of these attacks occurred in St. Louis, which is right outside Ferguson. According to the mainstream media, they were not at all racially motivated and were random crimes. Wrong place, wrong time. Just a coincidence.

It really is amazing that they expect people to believe it, but they do. Perhaps more frightening is that people eat it up.

Stories that fit the narrative make headlines for months. Stories that don't fit the narrative are given the bare minimum treatment and then swept under the rug.

The irresponsible use of lethal force by police officers, as well as other forms of abuse, is a serious problem. I think many people, including myself, would support an emphasis on better training, especially regarding non-violent conflict resolution, a stronger vetting process when hiring new officers, and body cameras.

The point I wish to make is that it is abundantly obvious to anyone with functional eyes that the media picks and chooses what it shows all of us in order to create a story so that they can make more money from drug commercials. This is why I don't watch TV anymore. I'm sick and tired of being spoonfed their shallow conclusions, and I'm sick and tired of hearing about the potentially life-threatening side effects of Xarelto.

The fourth estate has too much power. They've gotten lazy and fat. They have abandoned honest journalism and solid critical investigation in favor of pushing cheap fodder for populist anger. They have idealized themselves not as the deliverymen of facts and information, but as political arbiters determining what you should think.

I think I've had enough.

Smoove, if the eight homicides to which you referred were all black victims killed by other blacks in the last eight days, which wouldn't surprise me, they don't count. Black people don't get upset when blacks kill blacks. Not President Obama, anyway. He's obviously not upset about the thousands of black people murdered every year by other blacks. Not Eric Holder, either. Not Al Sharpton. Not Jesse Jackson. Not anybody who matters, apparently. Except the relatives of the dead, of course. And they are ignored by the aforementioned people. They don't count.

But if its a white man who did it, it becomes world war 2. That's bs to me. The image they create make it seem like its ok for blacks to kill blacks. That's why sometimes I wish I had the voice louder enough for the people could hear. Like if I was a celebrity or athlete or some shit. I will speak my mind cause that shit piss me off.

But that situation was some bullshit. With all them cops around he didn't have to choke my mans out like that. A cop son was just killed here a couple of days ago. They family all crying and shit. But now they see how the families of the victims felt when cops killed their love ones. Now if that cop in NY who shot that man in the hallways don't get convicted it will be madness. And I don't blame them. But something got to give.

Yes, only black people who are killed by white people count, apparently. Well, those killed by half white people named Zimmerman also count, I guess.

When have there been any protests, marches, riots, arsons, anything really, over a black on black killing?

Never.

And they happen every day. Thousands of times every year.

But we do get the short end of the stick. If those were white boys one or two things would of happened.

1.They would of never been killed.

2. If they were the officer would of been convicted. He would of been put under the jail and the family would of got a settlement

To yall we are not equals. So race will always be a problem in America.

I think race played no part in the deaths of Brown or Garner. And no part in the failure to indict the cops. I'm sure you disagree.

Cmon man. I don't know who Garner is but it did. What it's just that yall cops are just so nice in the burds? And our cops are just violent?

The Staten Island guy's name was Eric Garner. Many more white guys than black guys are killed by cops every year in the US. Every year. So being white is not the shield you apparently think it is.

Them white boys probably get their self killed by doing off the wall shit. That Garner guy didn't do shit. With all those cops around he didn't have to use that much force. I don't think no white cop will just open up on a white boy without getting his hand force. State killed my mans woo and he didn't have no gun. I just see how we get treated first hand. So I can't agree with you.

There's no way we will ever know for sure, but I think both cops would have done the exact same thing if the only difference was Brown and Garner were white instead of black.

I think it is true that cops are more on edge, more trigger happy and slightly more likely to make mistakes or use excessive force in black neighborhoods. Cops dread making a mistake on sort of thing.

Even that doesn't tell it all. You see occasionally cops shooting a black kid with a toy gun from time to time. They were ready to believe it was a criminal with a gun because some part of them has that picture in their head.

I highly doubt it. I don't know to much about that brown situation. I could give two fucks about that. But I seen the video for that NY thing he should of been convicted. If I walk outside and push a cop, I'm going to jail. But a cop could choke me to my death and don't shit happen? That's kinda fucked up.

My brother was in internal affairs for a long time and off the streets. He had to be because his work before that. Now that enough time has passed, he is now a lieutenant and just started back in patrol like last week.

He has worked auto-theft recovery so he knows if not who is chopping cars, about where they work out of. He is low man again so he has nights. He gets a call about a stolen Honda. Eight minutes later on a hunch he finds the car pulling into an apartment complex. He hops out of the cruiser has a gun pointed at the car. Its some 20ish year old and his 51 year old mom in the car! Fortunately they didn't try to run, they didn't have a gun, and they didn't look like they were going for a gun. Took a few minutes to get more cops there to cuff them up. That's just a typical night. Where he works, crime is mostly white guys and Hispanics. Average to little guys.

Now change that story out. Make it two large black guys. He would have been even more hyped up. He would have handled it the same, but been a little more nervous if the door opens up.

Exactly

A cop would have to be really stupid to consider all neighborhoods the same, and all groups the same, from a threat standpoint.
