Most Americans voted for Trump because the alternative was so loathsome they had no choice. It wasn't that they think Trump is some paragon of virtue, it's that they reject the abject failure of the Biden administration.

What abject failure? Inflation hit worldwide after covid, and the US did a far better job than most other countries of getting it under control. Economists said a recession couldn't be avoided, but we did avoid one. Biden proposed the biggest infrastructure improvement program in decades - if you're going to call that a failure because it didn't pass, then it certainly doesn't make any sense to vote for the party that made sure it failed.

I think it is objectively true. As it was not clear to Americans what these (flip flopping) specific policy positions were. I would agree that she did represent reasonably accurately an overall ideology, both overtly and covertly and this is what you collectively rejected as The God Emperor was far clearer about his agenda, for good or bad.

Therefore, I stand by my opinion that people voted for "not Harris".

You now have a clean sweep of the institutions, the White House, the houses and the Supreme Court. That is the reality and it will be interesting to analyse the achievements of the incoming administration as time goes by.

We do have clues from the last Trump presidency, but he will have more power this time... gonna be interesting.
