According to the following article:

http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-main06.html

"This past spring, a group of Chicago children learned their lessons from a teacher who had flunked 24 of 25 tests of teacher competence."

Is this what comes from, 'celebrating individuality" in the public schools? The logical offshoot of, "My child is SOMEBODY at XYZ Elementary school"? Bllody hell, at what point do we as a body politic that there are certain fundamental requirements that simply must be adhered to if we are going to continue as a functioning society?

Now, this may be a little more vitriolic then most of my posts, but this really gets me. It seems that in our efforts to make everyone feel good about themselves and preserve self esteem and appear fair and even handed, we are jeopardizing the ability of future generations to compete on the world stage. There is simply NO excuse for statistics like this.

Or do I need to pour myself a Jack and Coke and go back to my smut?
