Okay, So i know this is out of place, but I am putting it in the cafe. LOL

I have a large antique split wood basket...It's gorgeous and I love it, but it has gotten dusty over the years and vacuuming really isn't cleaning it well. Anyone have an idea how to clean these things? I have googled and can't find anything helpful.

Thanks in advance!

ETA: it is a rustic basket and the strips are not perfectly smooth, thereby making cleaning all the more frustrating.

Spray wood polish and a soft rag. Works for me, at least.

Murphy's Oil Soap or Neat's Foot oil would be my suggestion. It's what I use on wicker/wood.

Those are good ideas but I am afraid of using any kind of cleaner on it. The wood is unfinished and I don't know if they will stain it.

Thats' why the murphy's oil soap is perfect, it doesn't stain. Just cleans and leans a decent gloss. I used it on leather tack for horses, and it's the only thing I use on wood now.

Murphy's oil soap should be fine for it. I have antiques and that is what I use. I have never had any problem with discoloration or anything like that.

Wood dries out, in almost all places people live. Dried wood becomes brittle, breaks and cracks. It needs polished and rehydrated.

But I have no other idea for you. I use the spray wood polish on all my wood products, including my wicker and rattan and baskets.

A feather duster first, flick it all over to loosen the dust, then blow it with a hairdryer.
