I would like you to supply me with a cite for your claim if you please.

I don't believe he did it to coerce Texas into anything. He did it because, if Texas could do it and get away with it over abortion, which at the time of the passage of the Texas law abortion was constitutionally protected, then California can do it in relation to constitutionally protected gun laws and get away with it.
