Hawaii has had a total lock down since March, a 14 day quarantine on anyone entering the state, so nobody is coming in. A total masking requirement for all citizens, yet their cases are ballooning. How can this be? Are these restrictions really effective or even relevant?

It seems to be effective in Montreal, where we were/are a hotspot. Since mandatory masks, hand washing, partial lockdown and social distancing has come into effect, cases are now much lower. Will it stay that way? No one knows.

It seemed awkward. Mr. Biden was telling all citizens to wear masks when outside at all times. He said all governors should mandate this. he then said, "This is America. Be Patriotic". To me, it just seemed awkward equating patriotism and the American Spirit of Freedom and Independence with a mandated revocation of constitutional rights. I'm not arguing the merits of wearing masks. I do and I think everyone should. But I don't need it mandated for me under penalty of the full force of a government. A true leader would inspire us to do this without threats of mandates and sanctions.

I agree with you. I love it when people fly flags after hurricanes, floods, tornadoes as if they actually give a fuck about a flag. Wearing a mask is the right thing to do and it has absolutely nothing to do with patriotism.
