Most of you know that I'm fond of the military, and proud of what they voluntarily endure. Being in the military is more than just a job, it's a calling in a lot of ways.

It does my heart good to see that people can disagree on the politics of sending the troops to a place, but still support the troops themselves.

I had a very similar situation to what's depicted in this commercial happen to me when I came back from Desert Storm. A group of us landed in New York. We were wearing our BDU's (camo uniforms) and carrying our duffle bags. We were tired and anxious to get home after being gone for so long. Our only thoughts were of comfortable beds and loved ones. When we walked into the terminal, the crowd erupted. We were literally dumbstruck. It was overwhelming and humbling at the same time.

What's depicted in this video is an event that happens. When I saw this, I was reminded of when it happened to me, and what it meant to me.

talk about mixed emotions here!
Wildcard, I would certainly applaud the servicemen in this same situation. I've done so. The mere fact that our troops can make it home alive is worthy of celebration.

At the same time, the fact that this is an advertisment- fills me with blinding rage.
How crass, how calculated, how fucking insincere!
How dare they!

And where are the wheelchairs?

Couldn't get the video link to work, my bad, most likely, a clutz at this stuff, but wanted to thank you for your thoughts and concern for my 8 years active duty.

thanks...amicus...

Too bad you don't see this on the news or CSPAN! You gotta see it in a commercial for a beer company. How inappropriate!
