Why are you so quick to excuse someone posting the racist guilt by association shit that has been put up by DMC today?
It's not ok for Todd to bring up Tavist Smiley's "Think Black First" comment's but, hey there's nothing at all wrong with calling Todd a KKK'er? What the fuck happened to his freedom of speech? I get it, because Todd is conservative, it's OK to call him racist. Gee, aren't we all turning into a bunch of little hypocrites.
And no, it doesn't really matter to me that GenderBender wants to be DMC. He's a jerk no matter what name he uses.
As for my Miss America comment, I thought we had that all worked out. If not, grow a thicker skin.

Frankly, I think Todd stepped into deeper water than he expected to find on this subject. I don't know how many times I need to say it, but I was making an extreme point, not to claim Todd is a racist but to demonstrate both his naivete on this issue and to suggest some of his stances on the board put him into some unsavory company. And if you'll check out his response to the KKK's platform, my assertion that his point of view is closer to their's than to Lavender's is borne out. He isn't prepared to stand with their position around white supremacy and I have no reason not to believe him. But look at the remainder of the list. He tiptoes away from America being created as a Christian nation for some reason but on just about everything else he agrees with the KKK platform.
And yes, I did get hot under the collar around this issue and clearly pissed off some people. Has it happened before on this board that someone tweaks someone else? Last I checked it happens every once in a while around here, even on this thread by other posters who will remain nameless. I'm not immune from throwing a dart every once in a while. That probably puts me in good company at this site.
But this thread seems to have run its course, at least for me. Todd's response satisfies me, though I doubt he has any more insight into the reality of the black experience as noted by CrystalHunting. So what else is new? Todd suggests he posts to help people find common ground but I somehow I doubt it, that is unless the other person sees the error of their ways and comes around to his perspective. Nice work if you can get it.

On my own yes it is true I do whine about not being able to go anywheres, because simply all I have is a bike and my feet.

Yes coming clean does feel good. In the past I may have misrepresented the facts for sympathy now I don't really care I trying to tell the truth and my real feelings now.

MARch break not a march, it entailed about 8-10 days there was one trip in my junior year I went on and one trip in my senior year. We handed out pamplets, helped small group events, fed homeless among other things. Where we were was a predominately black area and a hispanic area, though we mainly worked with blacks.

To be fair some of these kkk positions seem more liberal than conservative.
Besides, the only place in America where the KKK is an influence is the Jerry Springer show.
Cut off trade with countries that refuse to establish strict environmental laws.
Repeal the NAFTA and GATT treaties.
Outlaw the purchase of American property and industry by foreign corporations and investors.
We respect the right of homeowners and that no one should ever be forced from their home for the non payment of taxes
We support all U.S. veterans (just not their votes)
Rehabilitate our public school system
Balance the budget

As someone mentioned earlier, there is a difference between talking about unity within a race and separatist bullcrap; Malcolm X, Al Sharpton - they need their butts kicked. Tavis Smiley isn't in that same category. As a race, if black people want changes made, we have to become unified. I believe this is the message Tavis is trying to get across.
This topic is talking about racism between different races but black people are prejudiced amongst themselves. Someone's too black, too white, too something; we won't even talk about the number of ways you can 'act white' in Black America. How can we expect White America to look beyond color when we can't get past that ourselves? Someone like CH, depending on where he was raised, would be ostracized by dark and brown skinned black people, not accepted by white people and forced to become a loner. Many dark skinned black people are ostracized by lighter skinned black people. Hello? Society hasn't created different categories of black - the law says if you have a drop of black blood, you're black! We, as a race, have to make LOTS of changes if we expect to be taken seriously in this country.
I know alot of white people I don't consider racist - they've grown up separated from other races and the only dealings they've had is what they see on TV. At least recent generations had 'The Cosby Show'. I've met white people who expected me to act like Flo on the Jeffersons or Thelma on Good Times; this is what they saw black women portrayed as. Unless everyone (all races) is willing to teach our children that everyone's equal and speak up in a united voice, we can expect to remain and to be treated as separate.
I guess I can understand where someone might get bitter, especially with what blacks have had to go through; considering the number of white people who've said to me they became prejudiced because a ___________ (fill in the blank) did so and so to them. If someone can turn against an entire ethnic/racial group because of a one time thing, what would you do if you had to deal with that all the time? I don't know how I would have reacted if I had had to deal with the problems older black americans have had to deal with. I've never been whipped or dealt with the fear of being lynched because of my race. I have dealt with racism all my life, however, I have YET to make a racist remark concerning white people. Maybe I'm naive but why should I spend the rest of my life hating a group of people for something that a few idiots have done to me. That would make me no better than stupid asses like the KKK.
As far as what I've read on this board about people being embarassed/ashamed about what white people have done to minorities in this country, what are you ashamed about? You aren't those idiots. As long as you have carried yourself above that crap, hold your head high - you have nothing to be ashamed about. Well, unless you've participated in a lynching or something. Yes, some horrible things have happened but those incidents have nothing to do with you. Don't let me hear you say dat again.
