I saw a thread on another lit forum. I don't remember which forum, or when, or exactly what the thread was about... :rolleyes: Anyway, it was something like "things you may not know about me" and everyone was listing interesting tidbits of info. I thought we could do that with a poetry twist. Something like "I write ten poems a day and I stalk Billy Collins." (<---Angeline)

Or you may want to tell us what makes your poetry unique. Maybe your upbringing in a cave. For me, it's the South and family history. They influence many of my poems. Of course, I write about dildos, too. I know you people don't know about that. :)

Okay, you guys give me something better than what I came up with!

oooh..oooh...

great idea...
I shall ponder upon the world of I am...and get back to you... ;)

I'm as wide as I am tall, and my flesh retains a dimple when poked. I have thick, luxurious hair everywhere but the top of my head.

sometimes I cant write for months, I dream poems and often remember them, but sometimes I find something that I obviously wrote but have absolutely no memory of doing it. LIke eve's poetry trance, is the way I would describe it. kinda creepy ...

oh yeah, once when I was about 10 years old, I found over fifty four leaf clovers in my Granny's yard in one day. I had them pressed ina book and kept them for years, then lost the book. isnt that ironic?

Ugh. Me like Maria. Me pull hair. Me take her opera.

I like Yeats and Billy Collins and Ted Berrigan. I write ten poems some days. I snort when I really laugh. ee, god love him, thinks it's cute (lucky for me huh?).

Things you don't know about eagleyez? He turns the sound off whatever sports is on tv and plays Son Volt real loud. And then he dances with an air guitar like Neil Young.

Oh I'm in trouble now. :D

I am a bitch
what can I say
I enjoy goading poets with
painful cliche

but its not me
I hate rhyme poetry

but I love ee cummings
only if for his last name.

I am dark haired
passionate
thinking when I want
freefall
kind of sweet
super
I'd say neat if
I was a Brady
Bitch or bunch
I have a little
sub as a house maid.

I am me. Odd,

not by much
or maybe such
thoughts are had

but i am me

much more than a definition of
happy.

If I suck as a poet.
Apparently now
then maybe I have not been sucked
by my lover
...

enough.

Oh I could have done better for an audio :D it has me in it though?

I have an obsession with garlic.
I've lost my driver's license and couldn't be arsed to renew it.
My family gives me giraffe themed novelty stuff every christmas and birthday, but nobody can remember why.
I like the smell of gasoline.
Everytime I write, I get a headache.

Things you may not know about me:

  • I know what happened to the hair off the top of fly's head
  • I know the address to Maria's cave (hint: 2394 Cro Magnon Way)
  • I'm Canadian, eh?

I dislike garden gnomes and loud motor bikes.

I write like I paint. A few strokes and stand back. I get that feeling of "the right stroke" with both disciplines. If I stall I'll stack it away - the poem or the picture - and go back to it, sometimes weeks later.

I love the smell of coffee, fried onions and cooking bacon, fresh line-dried linen and book stores.

My upbringing was spectacularly uninteresting in an amazingly complex and eccentric family.

I think of myself as rather boring,

I'm fair haired, it's actually a mop on my head or at least that's what it looks like after I've cycled back from town at 50 mph. I gave up my car because I don't need one living here and I lost 40 pounds in weight. I've got a 14 year old daughter who tells me to grow up, stop being a saddo and get a life but I've got no incentive because her best friend thinks I'm so so cool :D [...] I spend about 20 hours a day in my bunker which is my studio and only come out at night to take the elixir of life at the bar on the corner where I tell fisherman's tales.

  • I lived in Los Angeles for a brief time, on the edge of Hollywood. The apartment had gas heat and I almost accidentally killed myself one night, as I didn't know how to properly turn it on. I didn't like LA because it didn't rain enough.
  • I was once part owner of a bookstore. That isn't as much fun as you might think.
  • My favorite poets are Kenneth Koch and W. B. Yeats. My favorite poem is Auden's "Musée des Beaux Arts." Owen's "Dulce et Decorum Est" and Tennyson's "Ulysses" are also favorites.
  • I would have said Shakespeare was my favorite poet, but I don't read his poems. I have read all 37 plays, multiple times, and seen productions of all but Henry VIII. I happened to get sick the evening I had tickets and haven't had the chance to see it since.
  • I mostly listen to classical music, but also sometimes jazz and rock. People usually don't believe me when I tell them Metallica is my favorite band.
  • The most influential intellectual figures in my life are John Cage and Ludwig Wittgenstein. Some people find that an odd combination. The fact that they were both homosexual is curious, but probably irrelevant.
  • I can pretty much recite the entire dialogue for Hitchcock's North by Northwest, or could at one time, anyway. My wife doesn't let me watch it anymore.
  • My favorite city to visit is London. My favorite place in London is the National Portrait Gallery. I think Emily Brontë is cute and Lady Colin Campbell is sexy.
  • Venice is OK too. The pasta is better than in London.
  • My favorite color is blue, though certain shades of green are also nice.
  • At one time I owned a cat.

alright here you go

1. I have four dogs, labradors that I bird hunt with. I breed raise and train hunting dogs.
2. I snowboard as much as I possibly can and am looking into spending a winter in Austria just for this reason. I have been doing it for thirteen years and am one of the first women in the sport.
3. I believe all vegtables should be raised organiclly and I am truely scared of GMO's... as should you all be.
4.I am an erotic model/writer/poet and want to do a collaboration of these things eventually.
5.I used to be a Microelectronical engineer for Intel.
6.I think more people should be up front with their feelings, too many people hide in some shallow little world that they create...I find that disgusting.
7.I write what is in my heart. I believe there is no other way to write.
8.Winter is my favorite season...I don't like summer because it is too hot although I do like being able to wear next to nothing.
9.I believe you should do what ever peaks your interest to the fullest, I am very athletic and have accomplished most of what I wanted to do up to this point. If your not falling down your not trying hard enough, I take this statement metaphorically as well as physically.
10.I love sex, coffee, twelve year old scotch, jazz and talking philosophy with anyone that has reasonable intelligence.
oh, one more...I am horrible at spelling... ;)

1. I think I write too much about myself as I have little left to say.

2. I get unreasonably scared at scary movies. Once I ate half of a napkin watching something awful.

3.Organinzed religion has always freaked me out, but I love love love my "new" church, Unitarian Universalism... along with poets: Ted Koosner and ee cummings, Ralph Waldo Emerson, T. S. Eliot, Sylvia Plath, William Carlos Williams, and Henry David Thoreau. As a worship associate I often plan, organize and lead services, and recently led the service- Poetry and Spirituality.

4. I really really really like girls (okay women) but I have never even kissed one. :eek:

Not even your mom? Not ever on her birthday?

I recently had a lesbian encounter with my hairdresser. I saw her blow me a kiss through the mirror. Then she said we should go out and have an iced tea. The next day when I stopped in to tell her I loved what she did to my hair, she told me she had been thinking about me. I didn't go out with her. I didn't return the air kiss. But I feel totally gay about the whole thing. Though my hair looks really good. I guess I could tickle her or something if she'll keep doing my hair. I really love the cut and color.

Based on your av, that hairdresser must be incredibly charming.

yeah yeah I have kissed my mother, but no tongue or anything.
I did used to play Playboy model with the neighbor girl but there was no kissing involved.

I dunno Eve, that hair in the AV looks a little bushy to me

  • I hate answering these general type of questions about myself, because there's so much to say that I never know where to start;
  • I used the swim competitively until the year before going to university, and after that I completed a lifeguard course - but only actively was one during one summer;
  • Amongst the (hundreds of) papers attached to the wall next to my desk is an excerpt of Edgar Allan Poe's The Imp Of The Perverse, as a constant reminder not to dawdle;
  • It doesn't work;
  • I have at one time studied Finnish, Japanese, and Arabian - simultaneously - as an after-class activity, just because;
  • I technically have a huge fluffy white Samoyed dog named Oscar as a pet, but I only get to be with him a couple of times a month, because I am a big city girl living in an apartment, and that's no place for a dog like that;
  • I also have a canary and two parakeets, which are much more big-city-friendly;
  • I judge books by their cover all the time - that's what it's there for;
  • If I were going to that deserted island, all the books I'd take would be blank;
  • Venice bad, Florence good.

There's more, but that's enough sharing for one day.

Here's something I didn't know about myself: I'm in love with Sabina Tolchovski!
