Things that piss you off?

what is it that's in a woman's genetic material that makes her feel like shit when she's not being spoken to? i mean, jesus christ... "don't you have anything to tell me?"... "can't you say something?"... "isn't there anything new?"

damn but that shit's annoying. can't life go on with some degree of inner peace for women like this WITHOUT being spoken to??? is hearing people talk THAT fucking spiritual?

Personally, I find silence golden.

I have a friend who visits every year and she's a flippin' chatterbox. Tried to take her on a hike one year and her jaws flapped the entire time. I usually take an extra day off so that I can have one day of peace & quiet from our long weekend together.

Denae's post reminded me that women aren't the only ones who can talk your ear off. I know a guy who is very nice and would give you the shirt off his back, and you'd need it--to stuff in your ears so you couldn't hear him go on and on and on... Having a conversation--who am I kidding here, monologue--with him is exhausting.

LMAO-in sympathy.

Although I love my friend dearly, I surely know the difference between talking with and talking to someone.

i had a friend who talked non-stop for most of his life. finally we staged an intervention and got him into a 12 step program.

yeah. you guessed it. it was called "on and on anon."

:D

You know what they say...live and learn. Life would be pretty boring if we came out of the womb perfect. I'm sure you can find it cheaper than at Williams Sonoma too.

Unfortunately no advice for the lemon juice on your wounds. :(

Have you ever heard someone trying to get their car unstuck from snow? You know... vroom, vroom... spinning wheels... yeah that. So here I am, all cozy warm inside, I notice the sounds but don't pay much attention. Then my phone rings, my upstairs neighbor is babbling about car, look out, what is he doing...

I go to look out to see my downstairs neighbor's truck ON TOP of my car! I have no idea where he thought he was going but he took a right and landed on my car.

I don't care about the car, it will get fixed. It's that he was drunk -- again. I can't tolerate drunken people even if they are sitting in a chair... but driving makes me want to get violent on his head. I hate - HATE - when people get drunk. I have had enough for more then a few lifetimes.

So if you're going to drink, be responsible, be reasonable and don't do anything other then breathe.

Whoa!!!

Sorry to hear about your car Cate. :(

The problem with your post is that most (not all) drunks are not responsible nor are they reasonable.

Good psa though.

wow! this is definitely one for the books. i'm sorry this happened but i'm sure you'll have a really funny story to tell once you can look back on it.

my apologies, I missed this.

oh my I love lemon meringue pie...hope you make it nice and tart.

red spots! lemons and cherries?

Actually I had trouble getting the whole story out to the cops because I was laughing so much. I had yelled out the window to him and when he got out of the truck I said, turn the damn thing off. He did. I get dressed to go out (in the freezing cold) and I hear the truck start and the wheels spin again. I yell out again, shut the thing off and stay out of it. So he is standing in the parking area and I said, "Don't you think you've fucked up enough for one night?" I don't generally swear and definitely not at people usually but here is this guy, drunk as ... whatever... he says "Fucked up. Yeah. OK, enough." Or what sounded like that.

I have compassion for the man (deep down, hidden behind a rib probably) but I've just had enough with drunks. So I'm looking at this guy (I've talked with him once in the year he's lived here), knowing that he has a problem, he is a functional alcoholic, but damned if seeing a truck on my car just makes me laugh!

The saddest part is that he was standing under my window saying ''Please help. I'll pay for it, just please help." I said I'd be right out and to just stand there! By the time I was dressed and out, there were three cops and he was in handcuffs. I feel for the guy but there's a part of me that just has had enough.

It's a sad thing and I wish it was different but I can't cover for another addict ever again. It doesn't help anyone.

lemons and blood from my shredded knuckle bleeding all over the lemons.

j/k... i didn't actually bleed into the pie. but, yes, i do make it fairly tart... as much as the lemons allow. honestly, i just use the recipe that's in the pillsbury baking book and substitute emeril's pie crust.

Me, Myself, and I

I had a really bad night and overslept, waking up just as I was supposed to be at my doctor's. Thankfully, they made room for me this afternoon, but I'm so pissed at myself for causing them trouble and being irresponsible.

I want things to be the way they used to be, damn it.

I seem to be increasingly inflexible and intolerant of change. :(

i woke up today with a bit of a headache... it got progressively worse all morning. you know those kinds of headaches. not a migraine but the kind where it's just annoying enough that you want everyone around you to die.

i'm pretty close to a lot of the elderly people in my family (not saying you're old, just setting up my point here bg) and they exhibit this frustration CONSTANTLY. it's so annoying to me to hear about what's wrong and what sucks... often about the most ridiculous fucking shit. the other day my great-aunt was kvetching about the poor craftsmanship of a fucking fountain soda cup she got at a convenience store. christ woman, get a grip.

my point, after all that, is this. we're in constant flux. today is different from yesterday and tomorrow will be different again. these things aren't often noticable but there are always changes and they become more apparent as more generations pass. the thing to remember is that it's CHANGE... it's not better or worse, just different. every improvement comes with its bad side and every tragedy has its benefits. the only REAL problem is trying to preserve the past... it's tilting at windmills.

Sorry, didn't see this until today. I was out getting my dentures sharpened...;)

I've always been pretty laid back about change in terms of society, or social mores, stuff like that. And I still am.

I was referring to change in my own little corner of the universe, within my family and circle of friends. How dare my children grow up without consulting me!

And EJ? I am old, compared to some folks around here. But I prefer to look at it as well-seasoned and beautifully mature. :cathappy:

What seems like a hundred elementary school kids coming in and out of my back door ....
