Things that matter and things that don't matter

I have noticed that in recent months some folks have felt a need to help other people comprehend what matters. In fact, I see signs that help identify which people matter based on race. Not exactly a dream come true for MLK but it looks like there is a new dream being dreamed.

So, I thought that it might be helpful to post a thread where the collective wisdom of the GB could offer enlightenment about what matters and what doesn't matter.

Please feel free to list what you think matters and what doesn't matter.

I will get it started with something that I am told doesn't matter...

1. HUMAN LIFE DOESN'T MATTER...other than SOME black lives*

* Note: I get the impression that the popular view is that the lives of unborn black people are to be viewed as "tissue" and of course kids living in democratically controlled cities can waste each other all they want and that doesn't make the news so it must not matter.

You don't matter to me...:D

Question : Please feel free to list what you think matters and what doesn't matter.

What matters : In context online in a thread : ones character , a sense of community with fellow humans , and sensible morals / ethics.

What doesn't matter : in context I egnore what doesn't matter , a example would be agendas , social media driven perception and which way toilet paper hangs.

Life matters. That is all life, such as humus, humans, and the earth. The earth's magnetosphere shields us from hard solar radiation and enables our existence. Stars could be alive. We don't have the ability to perceive life at that scale, but the health of our sun matters to us.

What matters: According to science in the future the sun will explode and destroy this universe but in doing so will create another universe.

What doesn't matter: Humans pathetic little political fights.

Stars matter

Thank you for a thoughtful comment. I agree. The whole universe does matter and in real reality all human life matters. That of course was the point of the OP and I appreciate your comment.

Does "Oscar Wilde" matter?

I wonder why Oscar matters and I don't matter. Do people only matter if they agree with the conclusions we have come up with during a few short years of life?

Deciding between waffles or pancakes for breakfast matters more than most people know.

Human life in the light of political fights

What matters: According to science in the future the sun will explode and destroy this universe but in doing so will create another universe.

What doesn't matter: Humans pathetic little political fights.

I agree with your comment about "Humans pathetic little political fights." The issue of which human lives matter can only be an issue in the arena of pathetic little political fights. Taking politics out of it and letting reality sink in it becomes clear that all human life matters and to suggest otherwise is a moral problem that becomes a political problem. But the real issue is moral.

Things don't matter, unless you need them and don't have them, then, they matter.

Food and freedom matter, without both there is no time for anything else.

What is happening in the inner city is a consequence, the fruit of a poison tree whose roots have become contemptuous of life.
