You ever had one of those nights when you are scared out of your wits?

Like you hear a sound and your mind starts considering all these horrible possibilities of what the source is?

Or you wake up and get out of bed for something and you could swear you see a person out of the corner of your eye?

Scary Stories To Tell In the Dark by Alan Schwartz....got the book when I was 7 terrifies me at 19...

i remember the weekend I had to myself my s.o went home, my family went out of town for a funeral and my older bro wanted me to tape some horror movie, i was so freaked out during commercial breaks I was could have swore I heard something so everytime i went to the bathroom or the kitchen I kinda ran, this was only a few months ago too and i'm 20

OMG!!!

I have that book and it still gives me the willies!!

I'm one of those people that is always working myself up. I refuse to go in the woods alone, I don't like dark rooms, and I hate driving down long dark roads by myself.

Kind of embarassing to admit.

Well the stories do still work....especailly the one about the white dress that the girl got from the pawn place....and it had risidual emballming fluids on it...and the girl somehow fell over dead because of it....(leaked into her system...?)

The pictures really freaked me out....more than the actual words...;)

Stories about dark woods with creepy ghosts get me every time! That or stories about swamps and stuff...*shivers*

Poor soul...you know not what you do...that book is evil...

I do that. When I'm home alone, I'll hear strange sounds and freak out a little. Check the door lock three times before going to sleep, make sure all the blinds are shut tight.

The Cell flipped my wig. Especially that one part... fuck all the parts flipped me out. I was shaken for a few days after watching it.

Sometimes I'll have my cam on, and see something go by in the back ground. It's usually my cat, but it always gets me to thinking. Wouldn't that be freaky? Seeing some shadowy figure in the hall <looks over shoulder> walk past.

Spooky!

I had a book that did things like that to me. It described a world where childhood fears were real. I screamed.

The thing that freaks me out in the night is to look into a mirror as I pass by. It's not that I'm so scary to look at, rather it's that I'm afraid I'll see something other than myself reflected. I've had that fear since I was little and I can't seem to get past it.

When I was a teenager and had to baby sit my little brother when my parents went out I used to see things that gave me a little shiver.

Part of my parents house has this central hall that opens up into the family room. In the family room there was a reclining chair set up facing into the room, and if you turned your head, you would have a direct line of sight down the hall.

Sometimes while sitting in this chair watching TV or reading a book, I would see out of the corner of my eye what looked to be a shadowy figure flitting from one room to another down the hall. When I turned my head to get a better look, there would be nothing there. Nor would there be anything in the rooms when I went back to check.

It kinda freaked me out, but I like that sort of thing, lol.

This ones for you Nora

I posted this one a little while back in PCG's childhood fears thread..

When I was little, my parent's kitchen had a window above the sink, and cupboards to the sides of the window.
At night, whenever I went to get a glass or something out of one of the cupboards I would find myself very reluctant to close the door afterwards.
You see, I was always terrified that when I did so the window would come back into view, and there would be a face staring back at me through it. Laughing, with this twisted, deranged, maniacal smile plastered across it. Kinda like when they use computers to twist peoples faces. Like in that Soundgarden video "black hole sun"
So, even to this day, every once in a while I'll walk past a darkened window at night and out of the corner of my eye, I think I see something, and am afraid to turn around to get a better look.

Boo!

:p

Stories don't scare me.

Being engulfed my a giant black misty shadow in my back yard at three am scares me... it even scared Bosco and he is a ghost hunting dog to the bone. He loves that shit. Though he doesn't like negative energy. It freaks him out.

Being bruised up all over my arms in my sleep scares me.

Hearing voices that sound like musical instruments say "I see you" and then laugh a wicked laugh at me from outside my bedroom window somewhere at 2 am scares me.

Having something put two capital Rs stacked on top of each other bleached into my bedroom window screen right before my fucking eyes SCARES me.

Stories don't scare me.

Damn you Starfish.

Now I'm officially in 'creepy mode'.

Aargh.

Bright side: I don't live near Starfish.

Holy shit! LOL!
Got a bit of a shiver just reading that. :D

Reminds me of when I was little digging in the lot next to my parents house and found a busted up human skeleton.
Then for the next couple of weeks or so, something kept making scratching noises at my window.

That kinda freaked me out, since there weren't any bushes or trees within 10 feet of it.

Several weeks after I get out of the hospital Dr. Ken from OGHS will be coming here to do some dousing and some EVP with me. He is an expert on this shit and maybe we can find out what some of this phenomenon is all about. I mean, I do live on a battlefield, but hey, what the hell is wrong with these dead people? I mean, I am one sexy bitch, I know, and I am wanted on all five continents but Jeeezzz.... they don't have to throw tupperware out of the cabinet at me after I've turned my back. :(

Make that 5 continents and another dimension....

*leaves cheese as offering*

It took me a month after I moved in to my apartment to feel comfortable and not jump at every noise and sound made. It's the first time I've lived on such a busy street, with what can easily be hundred or more people a day walking by my place.. My window an easy view as it's only on a second floor.

As for stories and movies... No thank you!!! I'll stick with my comedies and action movies. "The Fan" with Snipes and DiNiro was about as creepy a movie as I can handle.
