I know absolutely no one gives a shit but my pet peeve is something I recently struggled with for the hundredth time. When installing a cable modem and struggling because the fucking thing wouldn't work, I looked for help. Not only did the instructions give me a web page for help but the help desk directed me to the same web page for help. Now, if it doesn't take too much brain power... If I could get to the web page I wouldn't be asking for any fucking help!

Sorry... seemed to place to post it. I'm calmer now... better living through chemistry... Back into the shadows for me.

John, reinstall your dial up card and get someone's freetrial (AOL whatever) then get the info you want then print or save it all and then do the thing.

Or phone the company (assuming it's not 10 dollars a minute) and tell them you need a proper installation CD with all the up to date drivers.

Barbara Streisand - who admitedly I cannot stand - loses a lawsuit she filed against a photographer for $10M, and is ordered by the court to pay $220k, which is probably sitting between the cushions of her sofa, in court costs to the photographer. Babs owns a piece of California oceanfront real estate, and the photographer was working for an environmental organization that was photographing the CA coastline. Babs, an alleged friend of the environment, evidently feels that she is under no legal duty to pay her fine.

David Crosby - who admitedly I have no feelings for or against - gets arrested in New York after a hotel finds his bag that contained about one ounce of mary jane and a .45 calibre handgun and three loaded magazines. Now rock stars getting caught with pot is about as shocking as a politician with his hand up a staffer's skirt or a corporate CEO with his hand in the cookie jar. But what in the hell is this erstwhile hippie doing with enough heat to start a mob war? He faces a possible 7 years in prison for the weapons charge. What the hell posesses someone to bring a roscoe to New York, where everyone knows handguns are illegal, and leave it in a bag with enough guanja to light up the Rolling Stones for the weekend?


Babs, pay your fucking fine. You sued, you lost. Get over yourself. Fines are not optional expenses. If the judge tells you your suit was meritless and you have to pony up for filing a baseless suit, you pay up.

I'm the one the gun control politicians aim their laws at in an effort to "take guns off the streets." But I have all the licenses required of me, and all my stuff is locked up in a safe. I know that this might start a bottle throwing car burning riot but I HAVE to get this off of my chest.

I recently moved, now I live in a small, homogonous, town. And I have had people say to me on more than one occasion. “You’re not like a “Normal” black guy”…. And this is only said because I don’t use Ebonics in common social conversations, ware my pants below my waist, (Unless they fall there!) and believe the lyrics of rap music. (NO ONE WITH HALF A BRAIN BELIEVES THAT!).

I recently began to read the interracial themed stories on the site and I was … well shocked! Once again I see blacks portrayed not as normal members of the community. But as extras from rap videos!

I know the view seems to be pervasive in pop culture that we are some kind of lurking monsters with a culture of avarice and opposition. Either that or back slapping Amos and Andy like jokesters, who “Shine” for the camera and have hip snappy comebacks for every thing. Or as some “Oreo” who is ashamed of who and what he is and tries to be “White” in some vain attempt to “Pass”

But in a community of people, who by the mere admission of being a part of said community, see the individualism inherent in people. To See people of color are seen as bucks is a bit disheartening. Thou I guess not unexpected.

Perhaps I’m a bit over sensitive to the issue being surrounded by people who admit that they are “Ten Years” (More like twenty or thirty) behind the rest of the world. People who think that “Life would be much easier if * * (Insert ANY minority) would just know and stay in their place.” And I should just let it be. But this is a thread for “Things that annoy me”, this annoys me.

All done now so I guess I will just go back to the corner and drink my “Forty” and make crass remarks to all the women that walk by.

Personally Grumpy, I'd take that as a 'good' thing. By being not a 'normal' black guy you are actually undermining their stereotypical view.

Whether it will make them less judgemental is unlikely until they meet enough black guys who aren't 'normal'. But it is a start eh?

To a lot of people over here my accent marks me as uneducated. The guy who eventually became my best mate in college told me that when we first met he thought I was a thug because of my looks and dress.

Not quite the same thing I know. But it's nice to be surprised occasionally, being thought of as not 'normal'.

I am by no means calling ANYONE a raciest, least of all people that are writing, in some cases fantasies but in most cases just telling a story. (And story telling is NOT a just thing I’m a story teller myself.)
