The first one I got too close to, so I had to remove part of the picture for you to see what we did.

Trust me, that's not unusual. In some areas, it's low. We used to have parking meters at $.25 for 5 minutes, but the mayor used 9/11 as an excuse to close them all off and force everyone to use parking garages (which the city gets a big chunk of). If you park for 5 minutes, you pay $6. Grrrrr

I pay about $3.25 a pack for Marlboro Lights here. On the rez up north, $5.00 a pack for "indian" (off brand) cigarettes, but that's with 25 smokes/pack, and at the Canadian dollar.

We just had a $1 tax increase on cigs here in TX . . . now they're about $4.50 a pack. I don't mind that so much, since I always get 2-for-1 deals.

No way am I moving to Illinois

It's only that bad in Cook County. If you live in DuPage or one of the outlying counties they are a lot cheaper.

In DuPage a carton costs $34.52. That works out to $3.45 a pack, if you buy by the carton. Otherwise they may run $3.89 - $4.10 a pack.

Wacker Drive provided my nephew with years of amusement during his Illinois years, ages 5 to 11. He liked going into the city, not so much for the dinosaurs at the Field Museum but for new opportunities to say "Wacker Drive." If the city of Chicago had build a shrine to fart jokes, he could not have been happier.

Don't come to Australia then, mate. Last time I bought a pack (about 18 months ago) I nearly died - they were over $10.
Makes me awful glad I gave up the habit when the kids came along.
