BMI > 25 puts you in the overweight category.
Most professional athletes are considered overweight as well. Bmi has no way to quantify muscle and fat quantities. An American football player can have a body fat percentage of 9, with a bmi of 25. 6 feet tall 180 pounds.
Now I'm not saying I'm a professional athlete, but it's not a great measure of fitness, or body type. At my fittest I had a bmi of 24. That was when i was caoable of running 4 miles in 28 minutes, doing 60 some form push ups in 2 minutes, and 77, might have 76 sit ups in 2 minutes.
I'd have to lose 30 pounds to have a bmi of 20.
