The last few paragraphs reveal what the first woman to score in D1 football thought about Silberman's sorry attempt...

I post on a football-oriented site, and I was really surprised how MAD people were about this woman, like it was personally offensive to them that this was even being allowed. I never believed she had a chance in hell, but who was being harmed by this publicity stunt?

Not naming names, but it's pretty obvious that certain folks were sensing a threat to their precious masculinity. This arises in posts about all sorts of things, of course, not just football.

I understand you're so insecure about your own masculinity that your ego must constantly project that failing outwardly toward someone else...

...so, let me help you with that and provide you with something that's "pretty obvious" you relate to best: a woman's point of view.

By that time, there was one seriously disheartened woman.

And it wasn't Silberman. It was Katie Hnida, a former kicker for Colorado and New Mexico who was the first female to score in a Division I game.

"It is disappointing," Hnida told USA TODAY Sports after watching a video of Silberman's failed attempts. "I hoped she would go out and do justice for an NFL tryout, because there are lots of people who have dreamed of going to the NFL. It should be something serious."

Hnida received lots of supportive tweets before Sunday from those who mistook her for Silberman.

"There is no way I would ever do that unless I was in the absolute best shape of my life and could really compete with these guys," Hnida said. "These guys are good. This is not a joke. It didn't appear she was mentally or physically prepped for an elite-athlete tryout."

The woman was there to promote herself. That's it. She had no intention of ever seriously trying to be a kicker.
It was insulting to all women athletes and I hope they find her.

I beg to differ.

It is doubly embarrassing that way. First, it is an embarrassment to athletes, second it is an embarrassment to publicity flacks.

Anything that poorly done is an embarrassment.

...no other will be able to say they were the first female football player on a box of Wheaties:
