MSN is listing odd words we might want to use so I thought I would describe some of our threads in this title.

Which brings me to this thread.
What words from our past do you think should be resurrected into our vernacular?

My choices: pimple ball, corner store, formica, malt

Hey when did we stop using malt, and formica? No one tells me anything.
I like the words davenport and courting. If possible in the same sentence. Much better then couch and date. Though those two fit todays habits don't they? Quick and to the point. Where as davenport and courting seem to bring up a slower, simpler time. A time when at least one date passed before you even thought about touching her/him.
Where's my walker?

Enough courting, strip and lay back on the davenport.

Damn. You are good. Now what? Did I also say I like the words lick and tease?
Oh.
Hey, anyone know if irregardless is really a word?

Okay, what the hell does that mean? They have tenure? I never knew.

I found it in Black's Dictionary. It refers to a "particular and odious" kind of tenure -- possession of land -- in which a life tenure was granted to a man who kept a house with six young ladies for the King's pleasure.

How bout "Bell Bottoms"... they're back but they are not called that anymore. I see more and more Teen agers wearing them but when asked if they would wear "Bell Bottoms" they just give a look like they don't have a clue as to what I'm talking about or they will say that they don'[t wear taht old stuff cause it is out of style, yet they are wearing it.. Go Figure... Teens don't know as much as they think they do anyways.. :D

Maybe, but who knows? I thought it was odious because the tenure was granted to the man, William Somebody, and not to the ladies doing the work.

Oh I know this is going to age me,

Last night this groovy fox and I were on the davenport having congress with the Hi Fi playing albums with bitchin' tunes. My dungarees came off easily, and so did my johnson, all over her bee-hive.

PurpleHaze

And where was Mr. Cleaver while all of this was going on?

I love the word "ne'er-do-well." The word may have gone out of style, but we still got plenty of them.

Me me me. That's me. I was always fond of "slovenly" I dunno why. It just rolls off the tongue nicely.

Wait. One that I still use occassionally that people make terrible fun of me for.

NATCH

Instead of the word, of course.

For example:

Are you a Literotica porn fiend?
Natch. Who isn't? :)

Since we never converted to the metric system, I'm in favor of resurrecting some of the more obscure measures of time such as: fortnight and score.
