I know turkeys are food, and should be humanely killed if we're going to have 'em for Thanksgiving dinner and all -
But.
She's a fool for doing this sort of thing.
Or else, very arrogant.
No, no.
Of course the birds get slaughtered. That's the point, after all.
But I think it was the ridiculousness of having her do an interview about pardoning a turkey while a guy was killing a couple of birds right behind her.
Bad move, that.
If she hadn't been selected to run as VP candidate that footage would never have been shot or shown on a national level. And if people want to make a big deal out of nothing they are free to do so, just like they always do when someone they despise does something they feel is politically incorrect.
These are the same people who really don't know where that hamburger meat comes from when they chow down at their local Micky D's.
Why are you libs so threatened by this woman that you have to keep beating her up? She lost. You can move on now and start setting the world aright.......Carney
You do seem to have missed the point, I'm afraid. It's a political PR gaff (obviously it is, as it's being played that way in the media--a smart politician tries to see/neutralize all of the possible media-play angles beforehand). Has nothing to do with knowing which side your turkey is sliced on.
One news report said that she was unaware of what was happening behind her.
Look at the video - is that accurate?
Another said that she was well aware, but continued to proceed.
It's just ridiculous to do a photo op about pardoning a turkey while filming turkeys being killed at the same time.
Where is her staff? Where are the people who are supposed to prevent such stupid moves? She needs better handlers.
Such a PR fuck-up.
Laughing -
I can still hear Tina Fey saying that - "And I can see Russia from my house!"
You're quite right - on all counts.
The thing is, I do not go looking for Palin stories. I mute the TV whenever she's talking. And I muted the video of the turkey story because I just can't stand her voice.
This was national news, shoved in my face.
Gosh...if the two of them were to have a kid...She is even funnier than Dan Quayle. I don't think we got this many laughs out of his entire vice presidency![]()
