A list of some of my 'best' presents this year:
Being serenaded by my 4 yr old great niece. Her rendition of "Rooduff the Wed-Nosed Waindeer" was flawless. Even though "then all the waindeers loved him, as they shouted out real clean". This just tells me that she helps her very busy momma do laundry, and I admire that.
The phone call from the 7 yr old great nephew thanking us for the toy that will most likely get him in trouble. He, of course, doesn't yet realize that this toy has HUGE get the boy in trouble potential, but he will learn this soon enough.
Hanging out with the kids, watching them open presents, and joining them in playing with the new stuff. I even managed to share well, something some family members thought I never quite mastered as a child.
Getting a HUGE hug and a kiss on top the head from the usually gruff, reserved, big ole bear of a brother in law.
Having my *cough* grown up *cough* daughter bounce around the house and admit she's so excited over Christmas she could "just bust wide open".
Sitting around with my in laws exchanging embarassing stories on each other, and laughing til our sides hurt.
Receiving a Christmas card from a friend who has NEVER sent a Christmas card before.
No amount of money could give me the satisfaction these things do. Tomorrow, we spend with my family. I look forward to the fun there, too. These things are what make the Holidays for me.
What makes your holiday special?
