More money but more hours. If I want to advance it's one of two paths, neither of which I really want to do. I'm really, really good at what I do and it comes easy to me. I guess I could apply and see what shakes out. Saying no shouldn't be a deal breaker.

I've watched people try it and cry for their old jobs back.

I don't know...

Let's see. Neither advancement path you want. Your good at what you do, so naturally you seem to like it.

Am I missing something here? Like a specific temptation?

More money, longer hours. Would it possibly lead to further advancement in the future? Do you want to continue doing what you like to do now, forever?

Everyone keeps telling me mo' money is better. I assume it must come at a price...like misery.

Not necessarily. You already have mo' money than some people. Probably many people. Probably me. It wouldn't be hard.

Only you know if you do or don't have enough money. Are you barely getting by? Are you not able to save for retirement or family emergencies?

If you have any kind of financial cushion, and it is growing at all, AND you are happy in your job, you just WON THE SHIT-EATING-GRIN LOTTERY!!! CONGRATULATIONS, (and don't you dare fuck it up!)

p.s. -- Here's an advancement path you may not have thought of. Doing what you're doing NOW for somebody else for MO' Money. Or maybe even for your current employer. Stranger things have happened.

Tough choice, indeed. More money - hell yeah, but more hours -which might affect one's health...

N.B.
For me, money or no. of hours don't matter as much as the working environment. I once worked in a place that was so toxic that I ended up blowing all the extra money on comfort shopping, restaurants etc… So I actually ended up with far less money than from one of those workplaces that I really enjoyed.
