Robert Mugabe, President and former Premier of "Zimbabwe" (the modern country with that name is no more Zimbabwe than Romania is the Roman Empire). His brutal regime has lasted a quarter of a century and left homesteads seized, farmers murdered, women raped, children orphaned, and all so he and some guerillas who won't do honest work can loot the nation. And, lest you think that this is a racist thread, remember, he has harassed many "public enemies" who supported opposing factions of the same umbrella liberation movement he used to come to power. Most of them were black Africans. I can bring in stats on cruelty, but for now, remember that there are some people who are truly evil.

You don't think we already know this?

Is there some reason that this particular evil guy's long history of evil doing deserves attention here and now? Or that his evil doing is more evil to you than other evil doers around the world doing some of the same evil things?

Not saying he doesn't deserve attention, I'm just wondering why you're bringing him to our special attention here and now.

Just citing an example. Because some people don't seem to believe that real evil exists. And some might not be aware. Depending on how much of the papers they read.

To clarify, most things are grey rather than black and white. But this is a damned clear case of an evil lunatic looting his country. And then I hear of American clergymen declaring support for the man, even protesting on his behalf because they agree with some asinine comment he made against homosexuality. Just proves that they think alike in several ways, not just one.

AH! You should have specified this.

Do remember your audience. With few exceptions, you're preaching to the choir here. We're writers and we do research and are usually up on current affairs as well as our history and human nature. We know how evil people can be and how good. And how gray. No need to convince us.

But your real issue isn't "grayness" it's hypocrisy and, in this case, how much it angers you to see people who supposedly worship a loving god supporting a mass murderer because he's anti-gay. Certainly worth pointing out, if not all that surprising.

All eloquently and succinctly spoken, darling. Thanks. That sums it up well.

And, yes, I suppose that I DID forget the nature of my audience here.
