Josh Miles had been an avid tabletop roleplayer for most of his life, from his discovery of DND at the age of 13 till this night. He had recently turned 40 and was still going strong in his love of tabletop games. His group had recently switched over to the latest edition of Pathfinder and were about to start up a new campaign. He had decided to play a fetchling assassin called M'lik. Sadly, fate was against him this night.

As Josh pulled out of his driveway, a light rain began to fall. He wasn't really fond of the rain while driving and hoped that it wouldn't rain much harder. He had a couple of close calls during the rain in the past from slick roads, so he hoped nothing bad would happened. However, fate had decided to change that as the rain picked up, pounding harder and faster as he was only a few minutes from the meeting place. Even with his wipers on the fastest setting, he could barely see out the window at the barely lit country road he had to travel.

The thought that he should showdown or pull over did cross his mind, but he did feel that he could make it. Tragedy struck at the final intersection just five minutes from the meeting spot. There was just enough water on the road that he began to hydroplane as he approached, no amount of brake stomping and screaming slowing him down. A large pickup lost traction as well coming from the left crossroad of the intersection, slamming into the driver's seat of the small car. Josh's car was sent flying sideways down the road, tumbling end of over into a large ditch along the side of the road.

Landing upside down int the water-filled ditch, his head slammed into the roof of the car as his seatbelt failed. With both of the front windows shattered and gone, he was left unconscious in a foot of rushing water through the upside down car. He could have possibly been saved by the driver of the truck, but she was knocked unconscious as her airbag failed and she hit her head on the steering wheel. The truck stayed on the road, but ended up sideways blocking the road.

Josh found himself floating a void of white, the last memory of him being in his compact car. He did recall flying through the air, the sounds of shattering glass, screeching metal and then darkness. As he looked around, he didn't see anyone else around.

"Well, this is just great. How am I going to get back home?"

Yuna was not only a summoner of Spira, but also a daughter of the high summoner Braska, who defeated Sin ten years ago. Like her father, Yuna followed his footstep and embarked on the pilgrimage to expel Sin once again. After years and hundreds of miles crossed the Spira plains, Yuna and her guardians made to Dream Zanarkand and faced various aspects of Sin.

While the party attacked and distracted Sin’s last form, which was a mutant Jecht, Yuna prepared a final summoning. She clutched the staff closely to her chest and channeled all her energy calling to the last aeon from the deepest depth of Spira and through layer of dimensions.

“Yuna, any time now?” one of her guardians inquired.

“R-right.” Yuna nodded and concentrated even harder. She didn’t expect the final summoning to be a breeze in a park, but something felt very off. She didn’t know nor had time to dwell over it. She shut her eyes and let her mind wondered through the flow of time in search of the all powerful weapon.

Please. Please. Spira needs you. We must defeat Sin. Yuna prayed and pleaded silently.

Dark clouds swirled overhead. Lightning and thunder ignited and boomed. The gust picked up and engulfed Yuna’s whole body. She felt the surge of energy and air thickened around her. Something was coming, being born between the threads of time and space.

“I summon you!” Yuna cried out as the whole world went dark for a split second.

Josh wasn't sure how long he had been floating in the white void. He felt as if time was passing by him, but at the same time not. It was a strange sensation of helplessness and unknowing to him. He soon felt a slight tugging sensation upon his body, which sent a feeling of dread through him. This was followed by a strange feminine voice calling to him.

Please. Please. Spira needs you. We must defeat Sin.

He was confused by what the voice was asking him to do, the feeling of needing to heed the call coming over him. It was a cuple of seconds later he disappeared from the void. As the whole world went dark, Yuna would feel a warm sensation on the back of her right hand. A small tattoo of a rose appeared on the back of her hand. The rose was a pure white, lightning crackling around the rose bud. On the left side of the stem was a scimitar and a diamond straight flush hand on the right side.

Lightning struck the ground between Yuma's group and the mutant Jecht, brightly lighting up the area. When everyone could see again, Josh was standing there facing Jecht as his created character from the other world. He barely had time to register what was happening when Jecht roared and attempted to pound him with a giant fist. Josh barely dodged by jumping backwards as the fist hit the floating platform the group was on. Josh leaped on top of Jecht's hand, flinging some cards as he ran along the arm.

The cards hit Jecht in the face, stunning him. Next Josh sliced Jecht across his large face, the scimitar crackling with lightning over the blade. Jecht howled with pain at the attack, lightning dancing over the mutant. The hit wasn't very high powered, but it helped to daze him. Josh leaped backwards, landing back on the platform.

If any of the group decided to use Libra on him, these stats would show up.

Yuna stood frozen and in disbelieved as she watched her final summoning squaring off with Sin. Although she didn’t know what or how the Aeon would turn out, Yuna expected a little more … grand and robust?

The Aeon moved fast, lightning fast. His blows weren’t mighty, but very strategically executed. After he made the final blow to daze Jecht, the Guardians stepped and fired their strongest Overdrives.

Yuna glanced over the aeon as he landed back on the platform. She smiled, a tired and weary one, as encouragement to mostly herself. “We can do this. Thank you,” she thanked even though she wasn’t sure if he could understand her tongue. After a nod, she darted to join the team with her staff lowered to her side. As she ran, she twirled and swung her staff in between her hands, over her head, behind her back. Her movements flowed like water and light as a wind. Yet each slight move cut through the air and sliced through the fabric between dimensions, space, and time. She was on her tippy toes as she performed the sending . Spheres of energy appeared and multiplied, dancing and swirling around the platform. As each soared through Jecht, it weakened and took a piece of his sin.

Jecht roared in excruciating pain. His oversized and mutated body shook. He slammed his enormous scaly arm on the platform shattering the floating island into bits and pieces.

Yuna and company lost their footing and fell as the ground crumbled underneath them. The platform beneath them was at least 50 feet down. Rocks and debris fell with them and on them. Yuna closed her eyes shielding them from the dust and pebble as she fell and braced for impact.

He could understand her when she said 'Thank you', though he didn't do more than nod at the moment. It was all quite confusing for the most part, much of his current actions driven mostly by instinct. He wanted to attack again, but something felt as if it was holding him back for the moment. He stood there watching her perform her final ritual, putting away his cards and scimitar. It was mesmerizing and beautiful at the same time.

As the mutated Jecht was reduced to the point of dying and his large arm slammed against the platform, M'lik should have disappeared like any other Aeon, though he didn't know this himself. Instead, he fell along with the others. He frowned as he noticed Yuna free-falling with nothing to catch her. Using the larger pieces of rocks, he leaped along to her before taking her in his arms in a carry hold. He soon landed on the ground a short distance beneath them, crouching with the impact to soften the impact before standing up.

"Are you alright?"

The summoner felt being scoop up as she fell. She brushed it off as one of her guardians. When the chaos subdued, Yuna opened her eyes. Both the view and the voice surprised her. She stared at the aeon with her wide hetrochormia eyes. She gave a soft and short nod in response to his question.

“You. Spea---,”

“YUNA!” A familiar voice called out below her.

Yuna pushed herself out of the savior arms. She darted over to the edge of the alleviating cliff and shouted, “Wakka, yes, I’m okay.”

Wakka wailed his arms while Lulu assessed for the next move.

“Yuna,” Auron called out from cliff a blitz ball field away. His hand pointed up above them.

Yuna followed his direction just as Jecht phased out and disappeared. “Oh no!” gasped Yuna.

“Retreat. Recoup.” Ronso, standing behind Auron, suggested. “Rendezvous with Rikku.”

Yuna nodded in agreement. She made eye contact with the other parties, confirming with everyone before she turned back to the aeon. A full second passed. She finally accepted the fact that he isn’t going to disappeared like her other summoning.

“Can you leave?” questioned Yuna. “Are you attached to this place? You are not an a true aeon,” deduced Yuna more to herself. “Are you a fay---." She felt a lump in her throat as memory of Tidus rushed back in her mind. She took an silent breath before repeating her question. "Are you a fayth?"

He let her slip from his grasp, not making a comment yet. This was all new to him and a lot to take in. He did chuckle a little as he heard Wakka wailing about his arms.He looked around as he listened to their conversation about retreating. Whatever was happening, this wasn't the best place to discuss things.

"Whatever I am, we can figure it out someplace else."

He thought for a moment before pointing to her right hand.

"I believe I'm actually connected to you."

He let the comment hang in the air as he looked for the way out. He spotted a partially blocked opening, most likely the one they had come through. He moved a bit of the debris aside widening the opening for them to get through.

"Come on."

He waved to them for a moment before moving down the tunnel.

"Whatever I am, we can figure it out someplace else. I believe I’m actually connected to you,” said the summoned aeon and pointed at her staff-wielding hand.

Not only the summoner still couldn’t believe he could speak in Hume tongue, but also didn’t understand what he meant. Summoners, through praying, could only call forth its aeon after they develop a strong mental bond. Although Yuna had many aeons, she went through extensive trials in order to gain each one of them. She had not successfully pray for the hooded and pale figure before her.

“Come on,” said the aeon.

Yuna nodded and followed him into the dark and narrow tunnel. After what felt like miles, they somehow ended up at Lake Macalania. The area is still as enchanted and magical as Yuna remembers. The stars blanketed across the dark sky. Hundreds of fireflies drifted and lighted across the calm cold lake. Thousand years old trees rooted and grew across the water surface.

Yuna took a minute as the nostalgia tingle her senses. She took another long yet soft inhale and exhale before turned to her sole travelling companion.

“Do you have a name?” asked Yuna. “I’m Yuna. You said you’re connected to me back there. How is that possible? Forgive me, I don’t recall exploring any temple where I’m blessed to summon you like my other aeons.”

When they emerged into the open, he was taken back for a moment at the beauty. He lifted an hand up in front of him, watching a couple of fireflies dance around his fingers. They flew between his fingers for a few moments before flying away. He turned his attention to Yuna as she began to talk. After she finished, he turned to fully and stepping closer.

"You can call me M'lik. I have a feeling I was lucky to have been summoned by you, even if by accident."

His hands went to her right hand, showing the tattoo. His thumbs traced gently over the design.

"I feel a sort of chain between us, from this. I don't know why I was brought forth by you or how, but I feel calmed. Perhaps you can summon or dismiss me at will, instead of going through the whole ritual. Perhaps test it out?"

He smiled for a moment before releasing her hand and stepping back a little.

“M’lik,” echoed Yuna. She stood in silence as she processed his words and untangled the mystery in her head. She truly hadn’t encounter an ‘accident’ summon. “Perhaps the luck is mine. You were great fighting off Sin.”

When M’lik reached out, Yuna took half a step back unconsciously. She didn’t retreat her arm or swat his hand away. Little goose bumps formed under his gentle touches. She let a short low gasp when she finally noticed the foreign ink seared on her skin. She remembered feeling a burning sensation earlier. She had ignored it without batting an eye.

Yuna let her hand fell back to her side after the release. As she raised her eyes to his face, M’lik suggested, “Perhaps test it out?”

With a nod, Yuna agreed, “Okay.” The summoner stepped closer to him in order to place her right hand over his chest. “Thank you for your service,” thanked Yuna. She channeled her thoughts and prays to send away M’lik just like she had done with the other aeons after battle.

The tattoo emitted a low glow as a searing sensation tingled across her hand. Her gaze switched between her hand and his face, awaiting for him to fade just like the other aeons. Though he's unlike the other summoning so perhaps he doesn't disappeared like them.

He looked down for a moment as she placed her hand against his chest, feeling the warmth through his outfit. He smiled for a moment as she said thank you, nodding. He stayed silent as she began to prayer to send him away.

As she prayed, a small patch of dark clouds gathered overhead, cracking with lightning. A few strikes struck the ground around them before one touched him. As it did, he seemed to fold in on himself and was gone in an instant. The dark cloud melted away into nothingness, leaving her in the same conditions as before.

His breathe was taken away in that instant, returning as he suddenly found himself in a small room. There was a large comfy chair, a bookshelf with various books, a table with a bowlful of clear liquid, and a large bed. It was dimly lit, without any source of the light. However, he could see just fine as it was. He pulled a book out, finding it was a random story to read. He wasn't sure where it's origins was, but he put it back on the shelf.

The bowl of liquid was clear. He tapped on the side for a moment and a picture appeared. It was a wide angle shot of Yuna where she stood. The angle was from a three fourth angle looking down at her. He wondered if he could manipulate it any, but decided to leave that for now. Instead, he sat in the chair to wait on her. As he did, the image from the bowl was projected upwards so he could see it from the chair.
