It was two days before his daughter's wedding and George was standing in front of his bedroom mirror, checking out his tuxedo. He had to make sure everything was just right for his daughter's big day. The 43 year old widower sighed for a moment, before smiling at his reflection. It had been three years since his wife, his daughter's biological mother, had died and he hadn't bothered to remarry. Well, no woman he had met so far had sparked his interest. For now, he was just fine being single.

He turned away from the mirror, pulling off the tuxedo carefully so it would be ready. As he did so, his thoughts turned to the wedding itself. He wasn't exactly fond of Jeremy, his soon to be son-in-law. He had foundt the guy was a little too much of a people pleaser for his liking. The guy didn't have much of a backbone, very rarely standing up for himself or his daughter. He really didn't see the relationship lasting long for several reasons he decided to keep to himself. Once the tux was put away, he changed into a pair of gym shorts and a muscle t-shirt. He made his way out to the backyard, closing his eyes as he stood on the porch and enjoyed the afternoon summer weather.

Kate lay out in the sun on a lounger in the backyard, her mind on her big day, and her growing questions as to if she was rushing things or making a mistake.

She loved Jeremy. What wasn't there to love? He was kind, attentive, charming, nearly worshiped the ground she walked on, and he was financially secure with a good steady job.... hell, half her friends would steal him in a heartbeat.... he was practically a dream catch. But it was that practically that was sort of the problem, he wasn't like a lot of guys who were ready to jump into a fight at the slightest prompt, quite the opposite, he kept just walking away from such things, always saying they weren't worth getting upset at and to ignore things. She didn't want to look like some old fashion girl, but it sort of bothered her that Jeremy didn't even act to defend her honor either, just saying to ignore those comments like everything else. Was she just being petty?

She had know guys who would threaten to beat up other guys for just talking to her or even just getting close to where she was. Jeremy wasn't that possessive, giving her freedom to talk and go out with friends and such with out the drama or suspicion, which was very good of him. So why was she so unsure?

She distracted herself from her thoughts as he father came outside. "Hi Dad. Suit fit okay?" She called waving in his direction.

He was pulled from his little moment by the sound of his daughter's voice, "Hmm? Oh yes, everything was perfect about the suit. The few alterations that were done last week helped."

He moved over to her, placing his hands lightly on the back of the lounger. "And what about things on your end? Is everything still coming along? Any last minutes things that need to be done?" He moved his large hands down to her shoulders, gently kneading her in small circles. It seemed like it had been forever since he had done this for her, unable to actually spend time with her till now dues to the wedding nonsense.

"Are you looking forward to the wedding?'

Kate nodded at his question. "Yeah, everything is going by schedule, thanks to the wedding planner." She said smiling, giving a contented moan of appreciation as he started to massage her neck and shoulders, easing knots she didn't realize she had.

"Of course i'm looking forward to the wedding Dad." She said trying to sound more confident than she felt. "Jeremy is a great guy and would make a fine husband for any woman"

She made more sounds of enjoyment as her father continued rub her shoulders, it making her relaxed greatly as the feel of his firm hands. "Mmmmm..... been a while since you've done this for me Dad. Might have to have you teach Jeremy how to do it so i won't miss it." She told him giggling.

He didn't say anything about Jeremy, but he did smile at her sounds of enjoyment. "Well, it's been a crazy time for you with all the wedding prepration." His thumbs shifted to massage gently along the sides and back of her neck, enjoying the feeling of her beneath his touch.

"If I taught him, that would take away an excuse to visit you when I wanted."

He laughed, continuing to massage for a couple of minutes before pulling away from her. "How do you want your steak?"

He moved to the grill, opening it up. "Do you mind getting things prepped while I get the grill ready sweetie?"
