The Wizard's Apprentice (OOC)

Okie Kokie (Oh gods who uses that kind of language - oh wait, me , the english tit :p)

Was speaking to Jeff about a profile earlier and here it is.

Name: Odi AKA Oddeseus Kaine
Age: He's forgotten, but it's presumed that he's old.
Birthday: He can't remember
Native Element: Wind/Air

Oddeseus Kaine was once one of the most evil and power hungry wizards that ever existed, and is used almost as a way to get children to behave (Wizard Children are often told that if they don't behave Oddeseus Kaine will come and take them away). At the height of his "reign", he was confronted by a good wizard and never seen again.

That good wizard was Vaan Vorudor's Great Grandfather, who came back home victorious, and with an owl called Odi.

Few know what happened on that day, but Vaan knows what happened. His grandfather turned Oddeseus into an Owl.

Odi has grown less evil with age, and has spent the past decades begrudgingly helping the Vorudor family. He has a strained relationship with Felicia, and has a soft spot for Cassie, as she reminds him of the little sister he once had. As for Vaan, he respects the young man although he'd never show it.

Powers: Though he is stuck in an ageless owl form he can speak, but has no others powers to speak off, due to the curse Vaan's Great Grandfather put on him. However he does remember a lot of stuff, so Vaan often tries to get him to help.

(Oh and the only ones who know the truth that Odi is Oddeseus Kaine are Vaan and Felicia - Cos if others found out, there would be trouble.)

Hope that's ok and makes sense.

looks good,

also jeff will there be a rebound effect on spells that are powerful and dangerious to use

It may very well have been. I, personally, haven't stumbled over him since he was working on that comic.

Do you need anymore players for this?

I could do a pet for someone or something...

luilfr i think either sean, tears or me need a pet but thats up to you.

Sean: Cool, thanks for fixing.

Lily: That's fine. Actually, you should make a third form for Felicia :). Like, she's got her cute kitty form and her almost human form, but it'd be so awesome if she could like turn into a ferocious tiger-sized monster for battles, and Vaan could like ride her and cast spells from her back, lmao. She could also become a more humanoid version of the monster form, where she can fight on two feet. Just an idea. The human form doesn't seem well equipped for fighting, and the tiny kitty form would prolly get stepped on, lol. Unless her human form has like super agility or something, hehe. Anyway, just ideas. All up to you.

Thewy: Cool character, but DAMN that pic is huge.

Luilfr: Yeah, if you want to make a pet for one of the characters or whatever, that's fine.

HAHAHA LMAO!!! I love you, Lily. That was an awesome post. Laughed my ass off. FUZZY!!! Mommy says I can't have a dirty kitty, so I cleaned you up! Bacon! LMAO! I love it.

*sighs* Knight, you're a cool guy and all, but I just can't follow your writing very smoothly. I had to force myself to read your post. I understand you tried hard to proofread and edit accordingly, but it still needs a lot of work. I'm not asking for genius writing here, but I want to be able to read the posts clearly from beginning to end. Like, take some inspiration from some of the other writers here. I'm not saying my writing is perfect, but I assume it's easy enough to read, no one has complained about it in years. Also read through Lily's post. I had absolutely no issues reading it, and even went back and read it two more times because I loved it just that much.

Your posts don't have to be perfect, but if I have to struggle to read through them, it's going to seriously hamper the fun factor. I'll give you another chance, though. Don't worry about editing your first post, but try to improve upon your next post.

Oh, and just so everyone knows, I only get online at work for the time being, and I am getting ready to go on days off. So, I won't be online again until late Wednesday night (I work night audit at the La Quinta now, 11pm to 7am, Wed-Sun). Hopefully Tears' bio will be up and everyone will have posted :):):) *hint hint wink wink*

I'll have my bio fixed after work, I'll have a post written after work, and...

IT'S SO FLUFFY!

Maybe that's something she's training on with Vaan or Odi?

Grrrr. Mother fucker. Damn drunk black dude came in here looking for a room. The room keys wouldn't work, and he got very angry and started making statements that could be interpreted (dunno if I spelled that right) as threatening. I didn't hear everything he said, he had a Haitian accent, but I distinctly heard a "dead man" in there. He also called me fatboy a few times and "joked" about smashing me upside the head. Oooh, I came so close to reaching over the counter and attacking him. I can usually control my temper, but this dude... He'd probably stab me or something if I did go off on him, but I'd rather die standing up for myself than live in fear of my anger and his reaction.

If I suddenly vanish, you know he tried my patience again and now one or both of us are dead or in jail.

Skolir abr Adurna! means "Shield of Water!" Sitja! means "Stay!" I used the Ancient Language from the Inheritance Cycle as a basis. Here's the list of all the words: http://www.shurtugal.com/?id=information/languages/ancientlanguage

Any spells your characters use, just use these words. Telekinesis and related abilities don't require incantations, as it is just using raw Mana. As for the words, we'll call them the Draconic Language, and say the words were formed by the Dragon Lords of the ancient world. They were one with nature and thus nature responds to this language if one focuses Mana as they recite it. There are warrior monks that do not use the language and just focus Mana to make their physical bodies stronger, faster, and more agile. Some of these techniques are used by wizards for self-defense when there is no time to recite a spell. Focusing raw Mana like that was the first thing Vaan taught Cassie, as doing so increases Mana control. A common exercise for wizards is creating a bubble of Mana underneath you and using it to levitate yourself, holding it for as long as possible.

Or if you guys prefer, we can just forgo actually typing the words and just describe them chanting the incantation or something. That would save us the trouble of having to actually come up with the magical phrases. What do you guys think?

Another option is to just create words as we go and keep a list. We could just take the English words and mix them them up for each Draconic word. Like, Fire could be Reif, or we could use other letters, and have it be like Fyraga or Reyif or something.

Or just say the spell in English. Or just not say any words at all and have magic be based on thought. What do you guys think?

We could also say that wizards review their spellbooks and the Draconic language is burned into their minds with Mana, keeping it at the forefront of their thoughts, but the age and experience of the wizard dictates how many spells they can have in active memory at once, and how long it can stay there without looking at their spellbook. With each use, the memory of the spell runes would weaken a little, meaning even the strongest wizards would have to read through their spellbooks on at least a semi-regular basis, to keep the runes fresh in their mind. Whatcha think?

One thing we can say is that there are several types of spells:

Elemental: Using any element or any combination of elements.

Transmutation: A key component in alchemy. Altering the physical properties of a person, place, or thing. Can also be used to heal wounds by making the injured tissue mimick the healthy tissue.

Enchantment: Another key component in alchemy. Giving and/or altering the magical properties of a person, place, or thing.

Conjuration: Using the energies of the world around you to conjure objects, create illusions, summon a person or creature, or generally anything that makes something that wasn't there before appear.

Necromancy: Manipulating life energy. This is a forbidden art, as it tampers with the balance of nature. It can create life and it can take life. It can revive the dead, but rarely do they come back as their old selves.

Got to go. More details later.
