Oh how I love to create headlines!

In the Democrat Presidential Candidates debate that took place this evening, Senator Clinton waved her magic wand and diminished the Seven Dwarves to Midget status.

To be fair, one must admit that Senator Clinton continues to speak well and with depth and stood head and shoulders above the other candidates in terms of appearing well prepared and ’Presidential’.

One strange discordant note during the first hour of the two hour debate; each candidate at one time or another, referenced, “Climate Change” as a major issue. Not one mentioned ‘Global Warming’, I wonder why?

The first half hour or so, saw one of the Moderators, Tim Russert, require each candidate to ‘pledge’ that they would not permit Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon. While all did, albeit some reluctantly and they all qualified their pledge with a statement that, Negotiations, not armed conflict, was the only way to prevent the Iranians from going nuclear. They suggests ‘carrots’ instead, but a wet noodle in place of a big stick.

What to do about $100.00 a barrel oil? Without exception, the Democrats did and said what Democrats do. Reduce consumption, conserve, tax energy companies, provide low income assistance and weatherization programs. None of which increase the energy or oil supplies to the nation. Go figure.

Oops, with twenty three minutes left, Kucinich mentioned, Global Warming.

Heading into the last fifteen minutes, basically, samo, samo, turn everything over to government, health care, education, tax, restrict, control private enterprise, forbid business to outsource, free education, through college for everyone; hello EU Social Democracy, withdraw from all overseas commitments, assume an isolationist policy, good-bye freedom.

Rather strange overall as the debate struggles to a close, with Senator Clinton attacking the Bush administration and all the other candidates, attacking Senator Clinton. Gotta be something curious going on there as Bush is not running again?

There is a sadness in my mind about the Democrats, overall. It seems they wish to withdraw from the future, hunker down, and expend the resources of an entire people on such things as healthcare, child care, education for inner city kids, all the social goals that the left has long heralded.

Incidentally, the debate just ended; those are my observations, thoughts and conclusions prior to listening to any other analysis by anyone…in case you were wondering.

(Not that any one watched, but just in case you did.)

Amicus…

Edited to add, (oops: Yahoo news headlines "...The debate, held at Drexel University, was aired by MSNBC. Organizers excluded former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel on grounds that he did not meet fundraising and polling thresholds..."

Can't change the title but I guess it should be ...and the six midgets...sorry folks.

Well, aside from what they are saying, what candidates actually have a background that would give you confidence that they could run the country?

Hmmm aside from what they were saying? Top of my head, Dodd, seemed to be comfortable in his assurance that he could run things...dunno?

You?

The primary point is that any of them (possibly with two exceptions as far as I can see--Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich) could probably do a better job than George Jr. is doing. I thought Biden did a great take on Giuliani's credentials to be trying to do much of anything. I don't remember seeing Gravel say anything, though. Was he even there? Obama wasn't as impressive tonight as he was here last night at a Charlottesville fundraiser rally. Maybe because he was alone last night and didn't have to relate to any of the others.

First thing I thought when I read this thread title - is Amicus the Wicked witch or a midget.

I say wicked witch.

Well...I ain't no 'midget, in any sense of the word and I am not running for President, at least not this year, and, assuming you did not watch the debate, Senator Hillary Clinton is the only one who anatomically qualifies in the 'witch' category.

Chuckles...you pullin' my chain?

Amicus...

I'm delighted that Hillary Clinton scares reactionairies so badly they have to call her names like this. Go Hillary!

We could cut the crap; Hilly is going to get the nomination and the Presidency regardless of what she does between now and voting day. The only thing I can see stopping her is a promise to make Hubby COE of the Sex Education Program. Now... what's the odds of her surviving the first year?

Ami,

The only candidate worthy of my vote is Steven Colbert. Unfortunately, he's only "running" in North Carolina :(
