This is a closed thread for slippedhalo and myself. ;)

It was a little past midday, and the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 were spread out across the beach, passing they day as they always did. The camp was still slightly a buzz about the events that had just recently occurred, when Charlie had seemed to kidnap Aaron, claiming he needed to baptize the baby.

James "Sawyer" Ford viewed the event with something like amusement, thinking perhaps there was someone who people hated more than they used to hate him. Sawyer's day had been uneventful, spending most of it on his chair outside his shelter reading another book he had found. After a while, it got so hot on the beach that he decided to go inland for a swim.

Avoiding Kate, he set out along the path he knew to a secluded inland waterfall. He had never seen anyone else there, and anticipated the relaxation and satisfaction he would get from bathing in the cool water, alone.

Claire had been spending a great deal of her morning crying and caring for her precious infant son. She'd been so fumed over Charlie's recent episode that she could barely think straight and yet she knew she had to be strong for little Aaron's sake.

The Korean woman, Sun, had offered to watch Aaron for a while, subtly suggesting that Claire needed a break and perhaps a shower as well. Claire was embarrassed to admit it but she really couldn't remember the las time she'd washed herself. In all of the trouble recently she'd had no time to put Aaron down. Of all the people around she felt Sun would be the safest to leave her baby with for the moment and she kissed him and took off to go look for a secluded place to wash off her grime and perhaps take some time apart from the others to reflect on her troubles and her inability to find anyone she could truly trust in the world, not even herself, she worried at times, not even she could be trusted to do right by her.

As Claire found her favorite bathing place she slowly untied her top, then took off her bra, and the shorts she'd had on, and her panties last, kicking them aside as she slid into the refreshing water. She swam for a bit, enjoying the crisp morning and the beauty of the waterfall which seemed to instantly relax her. It wasn't until she heard a twig snap behind her that she noticed she had not been alone...

Sawyer had been sauntering in his usual arrogant and confident gait, no real care in the world, until he heard the slight sound of splashing coming from the pool. He could tell it wasn't just the sound of the cascading waterfall, and so he approached the area warily, not making a sound.

The first thing that came into view was the small pile of clothing someone had discarded, and as he ventured nearer (still out of sight), he saw the person to whom they belonged: little Claire.

Ever since the plane had crashed, Sawyer hadn't really had eyes for any of the women on the island except Kate, but now that he saw the Australian girl's smooth skin, her glowing blonde hair layed out in the water, he began to think he might have been a little too prejudiced.

After watching her for a few moments (but not getting any distinct view of anything he was looking for, due to the water), he took off his shirt, and stepped confidantly into the open, right next to Claire's clothes, breaking a twig in the process.

"Well hello there Mamacita!"

With a ghasp Claire turned to see Sawyer sitting shirtless beside her clothes on the bank. She hurried to cover her breasts with her hands, greatful for the murkiness of the water which might camoflauge her lower half, thankfully, her home-kit brazillian wax she'd given herself the day before her plane trip had remained smooth still although she knew those roots were right beneath the surface, itching to grow out again like the five-o-clock shadows beginning on all the men's faces...Claire was angry and tossed a rock up at Sawyer, "This spot's taken, Sawyer. Go away."

Sawyer chuckled slightly at the rock that bounced harmlessly in front of him.

"Oh, is it now, Sheena?" He asked, before making a show of looking around the area. "I don't see your name anywhere..."

Sawyer sat down on the rock, and took off his shoes. "No offense, but I ain't walking around the island looking for another place to swim. 'sides, there's plenty of room for two."

"I'm not joking. You can't swim here." insisted Claire, beginning to look worried at his approach and backing further into the water in an attempt to create distance between him and herself.

"Sawyer!" she exclaimed in both surprise and indignation as he continued to strip further and approach closer to the water's edge. He was giving her an eyeful and she wasn't certain if she should look away while trying to hold her ground at the same time.

"Yes, I can," Sawyer replied, with that smile that cut the perfect balance between cockiness, mischieviousness, and enjoyment. "Watch."

The con man from Tennessee had no problems with being nude in front of women: after all, he'd been sleeping with them for money and amusement for most of his life. Just like the the time when he'd walked out of the ocean up to Kate without a thread on his body, now he had no embarrasment baring all for Claire. In this way--unreserved, yet not parading it--Sawyer casually unbuttoned and unzipped his tattered jeans, and slipped into the water.

He kept a respectful distance from Claire (for now at least), and grinned over at her. "Relax Barbie, I ain't gonna bite ya."

Having lost this particular battle but unable to leave the water without him seing her naked Claire decides to make one last demand. "Well, you just stay on your side, then." she says grumpily, her relaxing bath now turned into a tense standoff. She turns her back to him and commences bathing the best she can knowing she might have an audience.

"My side, eh?" Sawyer shrugged, smirking slightly as she faced away from him. He took full advantage of this, eyeing the smooth Australian girl's skin. She had moved into a shallower part of the pool, and where it was slightly clearer, Sawyer could barely make out the rounded outline of her small ass.

Despite the fact that the water in the pool was by no means warm, he felt his cock begin to grow harder. Smiling to himself, he dove under the water before coming back to the surface, running his hand through his hair to get it out of his eyes.

Claire really just wanted him to leave but she continued her bathing trying hard not to notice that he was so near to her, and their mutual state of undress. She wasn't daft, he was a good-looking man and had his own kind of charm but he was also not trustworthy and had a cruel streak all had come to know him for. She felt she had to be wary with him around.

After a minute or so of silence, during which he moved closer to Claire, but not very noticeably, Sawyer spoke up again. "Seems like the babynapper relocated to my side of the beach... you and him must've had a falling out after he tried to drown your kid, huh?"

"I don't want to talk about Charlie, Sawyer." countered Claire in her thick accent, "...and nicknaming him 'babynapper' isn't even funny, it's just cruel." she said, her annoyance blinding her to his now fairly close proximity. She turned to look over her shoulder as she told him off and colored as she thought she might have caught a glimpse of his...was he erect under those water ripples? She couldn't be too sure without really staring and she didn't want to be rude. After all, she didn't want him looking at her so she really shouldn't look at him...but from what she had seen...wow! Too bad he was such a jerk.

Sawyer, having been eyeing her closely himself, did in fact notice her slightest glance towards him and downwards. He smirked again, to himself.

Shrugging, he responded, "I just call it like it is, sweetheart."

Sawyer stood up a little higher in the pool, and moved diagonally closer to Claire, so he was next to the waterfall. His half-erect cock was just below the surface of the water as he splashed some of the cascading water into his hair.

He glanced back at Claire, "What do you want to talk about, then?"

Now, he was nearly in front of her and his...erection was definitely obvious, and almost unavoidable to see. She turned her head first one way, then the other, clearly flustered as she didn't know where to turn anymore. "...I....I don't know, Sawyer! I came here to be left alone." she grumbled not certain how much more of this she could take and keep her cool.

He noticed her awkward discomfort and her flush, and knew that she had been eyeing him as well. Smiling, Sawyer shrugged slightly and moved back into deeper water. He didn't want to make it too uncomfortable.

"It ain't smart to go off into the jungle by yourself, not after what's happened to you before."

"Why do you even care suddenly?" she asked just before dropping to dip underwater for a second to rinse out her hair. "I needed time to think." she answered solumnly.

"I'm a complex guy, sweetheart," Sawyer responded with only a hint of sarcasm, turning away to hide his smirk, knowing he'd used the exact same line on someone else after the crash.

He looked back at her, "But come now, I hadn't pinned you as some sort of no-fun, mopey-type." With a sudden movement, Sawyer slapped his hand across the surface, splashing water at her.

"Stop it." said Claire in a dull tone, until he splashed her again, and the slightest hint fo a smile crept across her face before she turned away and then he splashed her again and when she turned back toward him this time it was to delve out some splashes of her own back at him. They began a splash fight which lasted several minutes and had them both laughing before it was over.

Now there we go, thought Sawyer, as he finally got her to loosen up. Not only that, but being involved in a splashing contest with one hand while also trying to cover your chest with the other is not an easy task, and he was sure Claire had slipped up at least once.

If it weren't for the temperature in the pool, Sawyer's cock would have been completely erect, but with it, it was still admirably stiff. And now, especially after the most recent development and the fact that that she didn't seem to hate him, he wanted her.

"Now don't that feel better?" He asked.

Claire shrugged, "I have to admit, I needed a good laugh." she said. "Um, Sawyer...why do you act like such a jerk all the time, that can't possibly be all you, is it?" she asked, feeling a little more comfortable with him. "What makes you think you have to act like that? I mean, you could have friends around here if you just...if you just let down your defences a little bit."

Sawyer shrugged slightly, turning his back to her as he slid his hed under the stream of the waterfall again. She was right, of course. If he did let his guard down, he would have "friends", and wouldn't be so universally disliked... but the truth was, that just wasn't Sawyer.

Finally he looked back at her, and ran his fingers through his wet hair again, to get it out of his eyes. "I guess there's just more to me than meets the eye, Dimples."

He smiled wlyly, giving her the very slightest glance over. "And I probably ain't the only one..."

"'Ain't the only' what?" asked Claire, almost forgetting she was standing there naked having a conversation with a universally hated man in their tribe as she was drawn into the conversation. "What are you so afraid of, Sawyer?" she asked softly.

Sawyer avoided the question of who else had more to them meets the eye, the implication was too subtle to just blurt out. Instead, he very carefully treaded the water, moving imperceptably closer to her.

"Only thing I'm afraid of is being vulnerable," he said, now closer to her. "But how 'bout you, missy Claire, what is it you're so afraid of?"

With the question turned back at her she shrugged and answered, "All I have ever been is vulnerable. I guess I'm afraid I'll never find my strength and that I really am the wimp everyone takes me to be." she said honestly.

Sawyer cocked an eyebrow. "Escaped from the Others, had a baby in the heart of darkness, no man in your life... that's got to take some guts." He held his gaze on her eyes, resisting temptation to do otherwise.
