Impeached PeeResident Bellicose is raving, natch.:)

Trump and the Republicans were very pleased with their assassination of the Iranian general. They told us it will make the world and the Middle East safer. Here are the results so far.

1. Iraq passing legislation to evict U.S. troops

2. protests in Iran and Iraq

3. Iran completely backs out of nuclear arms deal

4. worldwide condemnation. I have to note, when even Russia and China are on the right side of things, it really makes one wonder.

5. Iran threatens retaliation

… and thats just after a couple days

This is not safer-

Anti-ISIS operations now on hold as U.S. military retreats
to defensive stance in Iraq, Syria

American-led coalition in Iraq and Syria released a statement
acknowledging that anti-ISIS operations in the two countries
are now on hold.

The campaign against ISIS is "paused" for an indeterminate period
of time, as U.S. forces take up a more defensive stance in anticipation
of likely retaliation by Iran-friendly Iraqi militia groups. Large-scale
protests in Baghdad and at the U.S. embassy have highlighted the
new dangers faced by U.S. personnel in the region.

"we are moving forces (out of the anti- ISIS operations) to protect our soldiers"

Iranian government official raises eyebrows with tweet listing locations of Trump’s properties

An Iranian government official seemed to suggest that President Trump’s properties could be potential targets in retaliation for the US targeted killing of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.

Hesameddin Ashena, who is an adviser to Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, tweeted a link this Saturday to a Forbes article that lists many of Trump’s properties in America and Europe, including Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

In a tweet the following day, Ashena wrote that the Iranian regime has “ZERO problems with the American people.”

“We even achieved deals with previous US administrations,” he added. “Our sole problem is Trump. In the event of war, it is he who will bear full responsibility.

Oops!

More shenanigans from Trump’s bumbling, fumbling top brass.

US Defence Secretary Mark Esper has denied US troops are pulling out of Iraq, after a letter from a US general there suggested a withdrawal.
The letter said the US would be "repositioning forces in the coming days and weeks" after Iraqi MPs had called for them to leave.
Mr Esper said there had been "no decision whatsoever to leave".

The highest-ranking US soldier, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, then appeared at a briefing, saying the letter was "a mistake".
He said it was a draft which was poorly worded, had not been signed and should not have been released. It was being circulated for input, including from Iraqis.
"[The letter] was sent over to some key Iraqi military guys in order to get things co-ordinated for air movements, etc. Then it went from that guy's hands to another guy's hands and then it went to your hands. Now it's a kerfuffle."

(Trump opened his big mouth, and let loose another bellow)

"We have a very extraordinarily expensive airbase that's there.
It cost billions of dollars to build. We're not leaving unless
pay us back for it," he told reporters.

(How much did Turkey and Russia pay for the bases that were abandoned by USA,
when Trump threw America's Kurd allies to the wolves ?)

Those airbases didn’t have the escalators and play areas, and the wallpaper was a plain weave instead of milled gold.

Iran’s Parliament designates Pentagon an official terrorist organization

The unanimous vote was in response to Major General Qasem Soleimani’s assassination, which the U.S. attempted to justify using its own terrorist designation of the Iranian military.

In a move mirroring President Donald Trump’s own justification for assassinating Iranian military leader Qasem Soleimani, Iran’s Parliament on Tuesday unanimously voted to declare all members of U.S. military leadership “terrorists.”

If Trumpski is the CIC, then he's the head terrorist!

Rand Paul Rails Against Trump’s Soleimani Strike: ‘I Hate This’

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Tuesday railed against President Donald Trump’s killing of top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, calling it the “death of diplomacy” and declaring that the U.S. was safer before the president pulled out of the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal.

The libertarian-leaning senator, who has long been opposed to military intervention abroad, was asked by Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer on Tuesday morning how he could be opposed to the airstrikes following National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien’s new claim that American diplomats were saved because of it.

“I think you have to ask yourself the general question, are attacks more or less likely now that Soleimani is gone?” Paul responded. “The person who has replaced them has been his assistant general for 22 years, is a hard-liner, and now the whole country of Iran is consumed with revenge.”

30 US soldiers killed in Iraq ballistic missile attacks: Iran state media

The Iranian government “caught America off guard” with ballistic missile attacks at military bases in Iraq that house US troops — and Iranian state media are claiming to have killed 30 American service members, according to the Tehran bureau chief for NBC News.

Ali Arouzi reports Iran state media is claiming to have killed 30 troops, though Arouzi noted that the report has not been confirmed and CNN is reporting that the casualties were Iraqi soldiers, not Americans.

Retired general fears Iran launched large surface-to-surface missiles at US troops

On MSNBC Tuesday, retired Gen. Barry McCaffrey registered his alarm in response to reports that Iran had struck a U.S. military installation with ballistic missiles.

“I’m looking at AP wires from five minutes ago and it’s saying that Iran state TV says that Iran has launched tens of surface-to-surface missiles at the American air base. I think this is truly alarming,” said McCaffrey.

Is Barry just dog wagging about "Ballistic Missiles?"

Live updates: Iran launches missiles at US military facilities in Iraq, Pentagon confirms

Iran fired multiple missiles into Iraq on Tuesday evening, targeting U.S. military sites in what appeared to be retaliation for the recent American drone strike that killed one of its top generals.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps swiftly took credit, and one Iranian politician tweeted his nation’s flag -- an apparent swipe at President Donald Trump who tweeted the American flag after the U.S. killing of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

SO the missiles came from Iran, it appears. Very gutsy call by the Mullah, who is said to be responsible for the decision. Bye Mullah!

Philippines sending ship and planes to evacuate workers from Iraq

The Philippines will dispatch cargo planes and a ship to help evacuate Filipino migrant workers from Iraq after ordering its citizens to leave following an Iranian missile strike targeting US troops, officials said Wednesday.

Manila issued the mandatory evacuation order for its nationals after the Islamic republic carried out its first act of promised revenge for the US killing last week of a top Iranian general.

About 1,600 Filipino workers are in Iraq — among some two million of their countrymen across the Middle East — as part of a vast diaspora that is a key pillar of the economy.

Sounds like a plan? I wonder if Al Soddar is on the list, the Shiia Mullah. Might be tricky to off another Iraqi so soon?
:)

Let's see if any of lit's armchair warriors (bot, dawn, etc.) are ready to put their ass on the line for this war. They sat out the last two. We'll see if they're willing to make the big sacrifice for their warmonger-in-chief.

Trump says Iran ‘appears to be standing down’

President Donald Trump said Wednesday Iran appeared to be “standing down” after missile strikes on US troop bases in Iraq that resulted in no American or Iraqi deaths.

“All of our soldiers are safe and only minimal damage was sustained at our military bases. Our great American forces are prepared for anything,” he said in an address to the nation from the White House.

“Iran appears to be standing down, which is a good thing for all parties concerned and a very good thing for the world. No American or Iraqi lives were lost.”

Are we getting "Flowers" yet?

MSNBC’s Morning Joe wonders if Putin’s pulling the strings on Trump’s actions against Iran

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough wonders whether President Donald Trump had coordinated with Russian president Vladimir Putin on the escalating conflict with Iran.

The “Morning Joe” host speculated early in a segment on the Iran missile strike that Trump had gotten advice from a “third party” on the assassination of Iranian general Qassim Suleimani, which then prompted an attack on U.S. troops at an airbase in Iraq.

Maybe Vlad talked to both sides. Iran gets to say they killed 30 Crusaders and Trump gets to say he removed an irritant! Win-WIn, I guess.

Iran strikes may have deliberately missed American troops to send a warning: report

On Wednesday, CNN reported that Iran’s ballistic missile strikes on two Iraqi air bases hosting U.S. troops may have intentionally missed the parts of the installations where Americans were located.

The strikes, carried out on Tuesday night, were retaliation for the U.S. airstrike that took out Iranian general Qassim Suleimani, but may have been intended only as a warning. Iran faced massive pressure from domestic protests over the Suleimani killing to make a show of force, but their leadership may be wary of starting an all-out war and would like for the standoff to de-escalate.

Maybe the SCUDs were accurate enough to "miss" but I doubt it. :)

It certainly is a good question who convinced Trump on such short notice that the subtle Iran "attack" was deescalating rather than his sycophants' (Hi, Lindsey Graham) "act of war." Trump's mind isn't that complex. Think squirrels, except that's an insult to the squirrels.

Iran fired between 20 and 24 missiles at US targets in Iraq: What we know about the attack

The U.S. now believes that Iran launched between 20 and 24 ballistic missiles on Tuesday night at two military facilities in Iraq that house U.S. troops, according to a U.S. official.

In the aftermath of the strikes on Tuesday, a defense official told ABC News that Iran had fired 15 missiles of which four "failed in flight." But new information shows there were actually between 20 and 24 ballistic missiles launched from multiple locations inside Iran beginning at approximately 5:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday.

The Iraqi Prime Minister's office told ABC News that Iran provided the Iraqi government with advanced notice of the imminent attack more than hour before it occurred without providing specifics. It's possible the Iraqis passed that information to their U.S. military partners on the ground, but the prime minister's office declined to say. U.S. officials could also not confirm on Wednesday, with one saying the internal warnings were what drove the American safety posture.
