They are following fairly close on what characters die but not when or how so it's a real guessing game even for those who have read the comics.
Glen is due any time now but I'm wondering if they will really kill him any time soon.

They are way past where I stopped with the comics so now I only know bits and pieces so if Carol is supposed to live a long healthy life perhaps she does. From a simple story telling standpoint she's done everything you could ask. She has had the most complete arc of everybody going from battered housewife to bad ass to saving (for all the good it did long term) a wife and child from their abusive father husband. In S1 and S2 she didn't get much screen time and even in S3 she didn't. If she'd died we would have shrugged much like I imagine most of us did with the death of Rick's girlfriend and that whole bunch of worthless fucks.

Carol matters. She's up there with Glen, Michonne or Daryl.

I do know how Glenn died in comic. That could still happen and then hand off Michonnes to Maggie. I mean seriously she's kinda useless at this point. Not much screen time, her purpose is to be with Glenn, for a while she was the hot chick but I don't think that role sits with her anymore. She'd be a nice shocking but not we riot death.

Let them kill Daryl. I dare those sons of whores.

Says Negan pops up in the finale and also in all the years he's been on the show it's the first time the script made him shocked and angry, said he couldn't sleep. So I guess Negan will kill one of the big characters off maybe? Or perhaps they follow the comics with the suicide thing.

Negan kills Glen in the comics. If they are gonna follow the books then his time is short.
Carol is weird as a character because she's really not as much like her comic character as some of the others so it's hard to say what they'll do. She's supposed to get with Tyrese, he cheats on her, she can't handle that and eventually offs herself but of course that won't work so who knows.

Of course they are, any movie or show based on a book is like that. But they're still following the comics mostly. At least in story arc and utlimate character fates. Anyone who's read the comics hasn't been all that surprised by events so far in the show. Like everyone who read Game of Thrones and watched the Red Wedding episode.

It is important to compare the two. In the case of the Walking Dead (and Jurassic Park dear god Jurassic Park) the movie/tv series is better than. Really this the book is better bullshit dates back to the 20's when seeing a movie cost a nickel and books were expensive. It's basically rich snobs looking down on the poor.

But regardless they are two tries at the same material as are games or comics. It would be odd not to compare them.

This episode just gave me the feeling that Carol seems 'done'. Like she'll sacrifice herself. I don't read the comics or know any inside info, simply intuition.

She's my favorite female character, so that's kind of a bummer.
