The Walking Dead

Can not wait till they introduce Michonne next season...she is bad ass.

The two zombies she keeps on chains that have no arms or jaws are her ex boyfriend and her brothers best friend. She was a lawyer who fenced in college and carries a katana.

There was no spoiler alert to this post!

Thing about this show is that a lot of spoilers might not be accurate because they're following the comics but not totally faithful to them so nobody really knows.

True. I can't decide whether or not to read the comics. I honestly feel like it would take away from how much I enjoy the show. Thoughts?

I have been holding off on reading the comics because I wanted a few surprises in the show along the way, but forum posts and video clips and what not have a lot of info about the comics, it's hard not to get a glimpse of the comics from everything you read about the show. I've known basically what happens in the comics up until this point, but I have no idea what comes next in the comics. I know they are supposed to make the prison their home for a while, but I have no clue what happens after that. I have heard rumors about someone called "The governor" or something like that, he is apparently from the comic, but I don't know anything about his character or how he will interact with the characters on the show once they do meet him.

Personally, I say watch at least one more season first before reading the comics.

The show is very different from the comics. At this point reading the comics would be like watching the original version and then a remake. Sure you know pretty much kinda what's gonna happen and can make some educated guesses but they really aren't the same at all. Just off the top of my head

Daryl, T-Dog and Merle were all made up for the show. Which probably explains why T-Dog does absolutely shit all in the story because he really is just the token black guy thrown in because there is a Hollywood law about having a black guy on the cast.

Carl and Rick swapped who got to kill Shane which Shane.

Sophi lives in the comics and eventually marries Carl. Unfortunately little kids have his bad habit of growing up and her actress was doing a bad job of not getting any older. So on and so forth so I don't see any reason not to read the comics.

I'm taking this decision way too seriously. But I'm honestly considering what you've each said.

Also...the comics follow the survivors all the way through Carl's adulthood???

the helicopter was the same one from Atlanta in episode 1 of the first season.. the farm is days away... but at this point, the zombies have literally been walking for weeks

it was summer when this started and it's close to winter now

yes, it was all very convenient timing.. but that's the point of television... dont go quibling at dramatic license if you accept dead people walking around

Haha, well, you told me. ;)

About the Andrea left for dead scenario, so much was going on during that turmoil plus I am biased. Since Shane's death and Rick slowly losing his marbles, Andrea is my new favorite. And unlike many of you, I've only watched the finale once and without rewinding.

Like Shane told Andrea a few episodes ago, they're both the "odd man out" every time.

true dat. But giving what we saw in the final episode I am guessing they will keep it close. Plus as she was one of the favorites I doubt they want to piss off the hardcore fans by changing her too much.

This ^^ is kinda creepy.

Don't scream at me, but I was hoping for Daryl's brother and that motley crew he runs with to return with their mega artillary to save the farm. I mean, that's the vision I had in mind. But whoa, some freaky deaky gal with armless/jawless guys on chains comes into play.

Whatev.

naw, they don't, he's just fucking with ya... but they are a " couple" .. as much of a couple preteens can be albeit

Go for it.. the show is a variant look at the comics

I'll give a little checklist of what's the same and what's different between the show and the comic

The Same:

---- Shane gets killed
---- as does Amy , ( Andreas sister), and Carols abusive husband, the guy from camp Jim ( the one that got infected)
--- Maggie and Glenn
--- they go to the farm
-- walkers in the barn
--- Rick does go to Atlanta and his horse gets eaten
-- the covering themselves in zombie guys to go in " disguise"
--- the mysterious helicopter
--- the RV
-- Shane fucking Lori

Different

--- Carl kills Shane and long before they reach the farm
--- They only stay a few nights before the incident with the walkers in the barn, and then leave
--- No CDC, no rescuing people, no retirement home..Glen saves Rick from the tank and they never return to Atlanta
--- Dale lives a good long time
-- Dale and Andrea are a couple
-- Sophia lives, Carol dies
-- No Darrel, T-Dogg, Merle, Randall, or band of raider dudes

you wouldn't be ruining anything.. the comics are a good guideline... but the show obviously departs from it.. and I think they do it in a very good way

Holy rundown, Batman! Thanks for this.

What's been the best surprise for you, and the biggest letdown, as far as the show is concerned? Without having read the comics, I'm really glad AMC hasn't killed off Carol, yet.

Best suprise for me was Darrel... he is probably my favourite character on the show now.. for someone who previously didn't exist, they really have fleshed him out

the letdown was killing Dale..and I can't really say " letdown" per se, because their depiction of him was much stronger then he was in the comics ( where eventually just became the cranky old man type)... but that they didnt show the Andrea-Dale relationship..and the weird dynamic of the old man- young woman romance

but the Shane - Andrea thing made more sense in the context of the show

Good old Daryl. I feel like he's the most complex and watchable character at this point. Some of the others make me cringe, but seeing him adapt and change and struggle and grow has been really enjoyable.

Did I miss something where Andrea and Dale are concerned? I know that he was really into her. Did she ever reciprocate?

Yeah in the comics, after Amy dies, Andrea and Dale become a couple and are thick as thieves for ages... so that was a big change, but I like what they did with it

Fuck if I know. I've read one comic in my life and it wasn't Walking Dead. I only know a little from reading a breakdown of the overall story arc somewhere.

I'd like to read the comics, er, I mean graphic novels, but the library doesn't have them.

All this talk about reading the comic version of 'The Walking Dead' - really?

Put your google fingers to work and you can "read" them for free. It's not the "reading" that matters, it's the brilliant artwork and detail that does. One deathly scene handsketched by an artist... that's the shit that slays me.

Omfg, why am I subjecting myself to reading all this?

Laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hard to say, they changed their writing team for the second half so the emo shit was gone... and I do remember alot of action at the prison, but there was alot of downtime..I just hope they dont go back to the slow painful slogging of the first half of this season

Ah. I sensed a change in writers, but then thought maybe the graphic novel bogged down and they were trying to stay true. Want them to keep it snappy.

Merle was flying the helicopter in the beginning of the finale.
