Buongiorno MW, I just read 'The Wagon', which I quite enjoyed - particularly the setting and the plot ideas, though I suppose I didn't quite connect with the characters as well as I might have, I think, but that could have just been my own tastes.

The thing was, when I read it and got to the end, there was no voting box for me to vote for the story. I looked on other stories in the new list around yours, and they had voting boxes - so I don't think it was my dumbass computer at fault. Are you getting any votes for this story, or am I going insane?

:)

computer fine

The computer is fine. Let me explain the character thing then the voting thing.

The characters were left very vague because I sense that is how a character is viewed on a chance meeting like theirs. Also when survival is at stake people have less of an interest in each other. At least that was my experience in a similiar situation. If these two had stayed together the next day I would have done more with, 'who they are".

The voting thing... You might on might not remember my little incident with little stalker person on Saturday, (Dogs and trackers moon on the bb) We had all talked about how you get five from fans no matter what. It was my contention that most of, if not all of the one votes come for reasons other than the work itself.

Well 'Little stalker person' cast two one votes on each of my stories that day. After I explained to him how he could cast an endless number of 1 votes he began. It just proved to me how easy it is to do. Also that some people have no problem doing it to us. So the voting can and is skewed. If you cant use it as an inidication of the story then, to me at least, it is of no value. I turned it off on all my stories. I also turned off the anon feedback option. I am tired of dealing with idiots like 'little stalker person.'

For the moment at least the voting means nothing at all. It never did actually. The first piece I put up got a 3.2 or some such thing. I was pretty sure then that it was because I was new. I was right. Once I got known some, the votes went up. So in my heart I knew there were lots of other things coming to play. I am going to miss the anon good feedback but that is another story.

That is why there is no voting on my stuff new and old. It is also why I don't accept anon feedback. We all talked about there should be no voting, well I just pulled the plug on mine after i proved to myself that it was bogus.

If you, or anyone, doubts that this person cast two votes, of one each,on all my stuff, have someone pull last saturday's voting record on all my stories. I am a photographer and I have thrown away equipment that failed off and on. "If you cant trust it all the time, you cant trust it any of the time." It is a good rule to live by.

Hmm... that makes sense. It's a real shame, but there you go. Great story - I can see why the characters were vague now.

Thank you

Funny but understanding should have been inside the story. I guess I was remiss in not adding a line somewhere in it to get the sense of survival more to the forefront.
