Natalie Abrams, 18
Natalie worried she was going to kill someone. Namely, her parents. They were at the tail end of a four and a half hour drive and they refused to stop talking, telling stories about their old college buddies that they were dragging her to visit. Natalie's iPod had died two hours into the trip and she had been listening to her parents for the remaining two and a half hours. She was definitely nearing the end of her rope of patience.
She couldn't be too upset, since she knew that her parents had been looking forward to this trip for so long. And since Natalie was leaving for school in the fall, her parents wanted to spend more time with her, so they brought her along. It was a nice sentiment, even if she knew that they were going to spend the week telling the same stories (only with two extra voices) and getting really, embarrassingly drunk. The only saving grace was the beach. The beach...and the boy, she supposed. The house was apparently enormous and really close to the beach. And the other couple had a son her age. Natalie had met him before, but it had been at least ten years...and to be honest, when she was eight she wasn't exactly all that interested in boys. So, she didn't really know much about him, but she hoped he would be pleasant company at the very least.
The car finally pulled into the driveway of a huge house...bigger than Natalie had imagined. Eager to get out of the confined space, she slung her duffel bag over her shoulder, grabbed the book she had been attempting to read, and got out of the car. Her parents were already hugging the other couple and talking rather loudly and obnoxiously while the boy (who looked much more handsome than she had expected) looked on, amused. Natalie stretched, her green tank top riding up her stomach slightly, adjusted the waistband of her denim shorts, and went up to endure the squeals of "Oh, look at how much you've grown...you're such a pretty young lady!" She didn't mind too much, though, since her parents were doing the same thing to their friends' son.
