Terri Schiavo's fight has come to an end

 Today’s discussion is the case of Terri Schiavo's

Terri Schiavo's father says his brain-damaged daughter, whose feeding tube was removed a week ago, is "down to her last hours." Dehydration is beginning to take its toll on the 41-year-old, in a coma for 15 years.

Who are we to play God? What husband has the right to let his wife die so he can be with another? What happen to your vows Michael through sickness and health? What judge has the right to tell parents their child has to starve to death? Do you actually think its a merciful death? A animal is put down with more kindness then Terri. Let the woman live since their is nothing in writing from *HER*.
*UPDATE*
Terri's fight for life came to an end March 31,2005, her family was kept from being with Terri at her death. How much more pain is this poor excuse for a husband going to put her family through? Now he wants them not to be able to visit her grave or ashes because he is sending her upstate.

How cruel are you Mr. Schiavo and I pray you never experience this in humane act with one of your children that you have put Terri and her family through. What woman in her right mind would want you after you killed your wife?

To the murderous doctor, I never want you for a doctor and may your days in hell be extensive for the hundreds of people you have killed. What you are doing is similar to Hitlers death camps....have a horrible life little Hitler.

Former beauty queen sues Web sites over phony sex video

A former West Virginia beauty queen has sued dozens of Web site operators for posting an Internet porn video falsely claiming to show her in a sex romp in the back of a Channel 13 news truck.

Allison Williams, who was named Miss West Virginia in 2003, filed the suit against 59 defendants — in the United States, Australia, South Africa and The Netherlands — who posted the phony sex video of the 23-year-old on their Web sites.

The Charles Town, W. Va., native discovered the video in August 2004 while performing an Internet search during her first week of law school.

She not only stumbled upon the video, she also found Web sites labeling her "one dirty beauty queen," "quite the animal" and "a sex fiend."

I guess you never know where you will end up on the net  Although she is not the only Celebrity who has been posted in the porn industry and I am quite sure she won't be the last either. Good luck in your suits Ms. Williams

Confused police swarm woman who gave birth in car

Did you hear about the woman from KETTERING, Ohio was rushing to a hospital to give birth hit a few stops along the way — first at a gas station where she delivered the baby herself, then when confused police ordered her out of the car at gunpoint.

Debbie Coleman, whose 3- and 4-year-old daughters were asleep in the back seat, pulled over at a gas station just after midnight Tuesday.

"I asked if she needed help, and she just leaned back in the seat, hollered a little, and I looked down and there was the baby's head," said station co-owner Lloyd Goff, who was alerted to the emergency at pump No. 7 by a customer.

Goff said Coleman "threw her leg over the steering wheel, groaned once, and the rest of the baby came out.

"She caught that baby, put it to her chest, gave me a look, like, 'I gotta go,' closed the door, put the van in gear and away she went."

A customer at the gas station in suburban Dayton tried to give police a heads-up about Coleman's situation, but a mix-up involving the license plate number had them thinking the van was stolen.

As officers went looking for her, Coleman headed for the hospital, naked below the waist and with the baby boy in her arm. His umbilical cord was still attached.

"I kept pulling over, making sure (the baby) was all right, breathing," she said.

Meanwhile, police had straightened out the license plate issue. But another caller mistakenly reported someone trying to throw a baby from a van.

Coleman said she noticed several cruisers following her before one cut her off. With guns drawn, officers ordered her out of the van with her hands up.

"I opened the door and said, 'I just had a baby' and just let them see everything," she said.

Officers sent Coleman on and let the hospital know she was coming.

Coleman was discharged Wednesday. Her 6-pound, 8-ounce son, Richard Lee Coleman Jr., remained in intensive care.

Hm I wonder why no police escort? after all they did have their guns drawn on her. They could have atleast held the baby for her its kind of hard to drive, hold your new born with its cord still attached don't ya think?

Hello EW, nice idea for a thread.

I think there are far to many unknowns in this situation for me to pass judgement on any party.

What has interested me is how the issue of living wills has become paramount. So many people do not have a Will, never mind an advanced directive or living will. These are important items to have, for all of us. The papers are not enough either. We must let our wishes be known to our family and loved ones who would be placed in a position to make decisions. I can only hope that people act upon it instead of only talk about it.

The second matter, and to me a very important one, is how Terri ended up in a coma in the first place. Terri was a bulimic. She had an eating disorder. Many people don't know how serious eating disorders can be - lethal. Anorexia Nervosa, Bulima, Compulsive Eating Disorders can all kill. Terri was living proof - sad.

While I was disgusted by the actions of so many in this situation, I have done more the pray it never happens to me. Life, and dying, are too important and special to not give proper attention.

Kiss Or Be Killed

A 15-year-old girl was fatally shot after refusing a man's demand for a kiss, authorities said. The alleged gunman was captured Wednesday night in Washington, D.C.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Jeffrey Blitz said Alfred R. Bishop, 21, will be charged with murder in the death of Elisa Hernandez, a high school sophomore.

Hernandez had gone to an apartment in her housing complex to visit girlfriends just before midnight Tuesday, Blitz said. Bishop, a friend of the apartment's occupants who stored some of his belongings there, arrived shortly afterward.

After some casual conversation, Bishop tried to get Hernandez to kiss him, but she laughed at him, the prosecutor said. Bishop then pulled out a pistol, put it to her head and demanded a kiss, Blitz said.

According to witnesses, Hernandez refused, and pushed the gun away twice before Bishop allegedly shot her through the left eye and fled, Blitz said. She died at the scene.

An anonymous tipster's call to Atlantic County's major crimes unit led authorities to Bishop, police said. He was arrested without incident at his aunt's home in Washington, said Janet Niedosik, spokeswoman for the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

"It's crazy, I can't believe it," said the girl's uncle, Miguel Hernandez, 26, who described his niece as a normal teen who was into computers. "She didn't deserve that."

It is becoming so crazy when your killed for not wanting to kiss someone. She didn't want to, she didn't have to yet she had to die because of some wacko wanting a kiss. Its total crap and he should have his lips wet and stuck to a tazer.

I have noticed here that the lines in the law libraries are long with people wanting the living will since the issue with Terri and it is good to know her death won't be invain, people are reacting to the living wills. I personally would not want to be dehydrated that is a horrible death , death by thirst. People in comas are aware of what is going on around them. The doctor said she was not concious to what was happening . How do doctors know what we are feeling if we can not be asked?

Should students be punished?

Fraternity Porn

I'm so disappointed. When my fraternity got kicked off campus it was only for growing pot in the house.

The winners of naked hula hoop and ring-toss-on-the-dildo got more than they expected from Phi Kappa Tau's porn party -- their fraternity's charter was suspended.

On Friday, President Paul Zingg suspended the fraternity pending an investigation and said he encouraged the national Phi Kappa Tau organization to do the same.

"Phi Kappa Tau has added to the case against a Greek system on this campus," Zingg said.

To win sex with porn actresses, fraternity members stripped to hula-hoop. They also threw rings at a dildo held up by a woman's vagina.

The hula hoop winner said the sex was the best time of his life.

"She knew what she was doing," he said in "College Invasion 6," a DVD that shows sex between Phi Kappa Tau members and actresses.

With black plastic covering the windows of the Phi Kappa Tau house, actresses Brittney Skye, Marie Luv, Trina Michaels and Mary Jane and actors Lexington Steele and Jerry entered a toga party in November.

Spokeswoman Nicole Henderson said the porn company, Shane Enterprises, was invited by a student.

But Rick Rees, student activities director, said the students were solicited via e-mail.

Rees also said no money was exchanged.

However Henderson said there was a location fee for using the house, but she declined to say how much.

Shane Enterprises gets hundreds of letters from college students requesting porn parties, she said.

"We chose Chico because it was a known party school," she said.

Most college students want porn parties because they've seen the Web site, she said.

"We're known as a young company," she said, "and we like to party."

All participants must prove they are 18 or older, wear wristbands and sign a release.

A handful of men were tested for sexually transmitted diseases before the party, and if someone who wasn't tested won the sex games, he would get a hand job instead.

A second DVD using footage from the November porn party will be released, but no date has been set, Henderson said.

The first DVD, "College Invasion 6," was released Feb. 21, but university officials found out about the porn party Friday.

When Zingg addressed Greeks in February, he said there would be no more warnings.

"Any fraternity which violates its own charter and the university's expectations and requirements for conduct will be dealt with swiftly and firmly," he said.

This is the first instance of a student organization filming a porn movie, said Joe Wills, director of public affairs and publications.

But in Southern California, porn companies soliciting colleges is a growing concern, he said. College, sorority and coed are buzzwords in the porn industry.

"Things related to colleges and fraternities are apparently a big market," Wills said.

Greek adviser Connie Huyck said even if everyone who drank alcohol was 21 and everyone who participated was 18, fraternity members could be punished by the national organization because members pledged not to bring harm or disgrace.

"You take an oath to uphold your fraternity or sorority," she said.

The members' actions have consequences, whether from the university, the national organization or potential members, she said.

Phi Kappa Tau CEO Steve Hartman said the Chico chapter is indefinitely suspended.

But it's too early to tell what the national fraternity will do. He said the fraternity will look for ways to use this to educate the members.

In the film, one fraternity member said everyone in the Greek community knew about the porn party.

"We got other people's pledges ready to drop their houses and come to our house," he said.

But the fraternity member said some Phi Kappa Tau members chose not to participate.

"Everyone who decided they didn't want to do this are kicking themselves in the ass right now," he said.

Fraternity President Dan Avery said in the film that the porn party was the best day of his life.

"Shane's World in the house! Party fuckin' like a rock star," he said. "That's what we did tonight."

Rees said Avery isn't proud of the porn.

"Hindsight is very clear here to him," he said.

Fraternity members knew porn actresses would be filmed with them for a hardcore DVD, but they had the event for the same reasons many organizations hire strippers, Rees said.

"It was just a titillating thing to do."

Well I guess if I was a normal parent I would go with the punishment, but I am not and I don't see anything wrong with it. I am just mad cause I wasn't invited

No way

Sex makes you clever

Sex stimulates the brain and makes people more intelligent, according to a top German researcher.

Werner Habermehl, from the Hamburg Medical Research Institute, says that regular sexual intercourse promotes intelligence.

He said that love making not only excited the body but also the brain and the increased amount of adrenaline and cortisol hormones that are produced stimulates the grey matter, reported magazine Unicum Campus.

"Sex makes you more intelligent in that experiences are collected that can be used later on in areas of life not linked to sex," said Habermehl.

He added that the added injection of endorphins and serotonin that resulted from an orgasm strengthened self-confidence - giving the body a mental as well as physical work out.

I can't agree with this, with as much sex here on lit we all would be friggin geniuses LOL

Federal regulators ruled there was nothing indecent about a steamy introductory segment to ABC's Monday Night Football featuring actress Nicollette Sheridan jumping into the arms of football player Terrell Owens. The segment that aired last November showed Sheridan in a locker room wearing only a towel and provocatively asking the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver to skip the game for her. She then dropped the towel and leaped into Owens' arms.

I think everything started to get out of hand with Janet Jackson and I do believe it was an accident just as I believe there wasn't anything indecent about commercial they say was too steamy....oh please give it a break.

Tornado Uncovers Pot Operation in Florida

PALM BAY, Fla. (April 14) - A tornado that ripped through Geoffrey Crook's home didn't just tear away his roof. Authorities say it exposed his elaborate marijuana-growing operation.

Crook, 41, was charged Tuesday with possession and manufacturing of cannabis after police officers served him with an arrest warrant at his job. He was released on $1,000 bond Tuesday night.

The operation had lamps, hydroponic equipment and log books. Fifty-four marijuana plants neatly arranged in the master bedroom had a street value of about $8,000, authorities said.

The operation was uncovered in February after a twister, with winds whipping up to 112 mph, tore away Crook's roof.

Palm Bay police and other emergency crews were searching through the debris for injured victims when they came across the 2- to 3-foot plants. Crook was not at home during the storm.

Crook had a disconnected telephone number and couldn't be reached for comment Wednesday.

EW - you funny lady.

The odd part is that nature provided the exposure and the plants themselves. Of course there was the little matter of cultivation.

Crime doesn't pay -- unless of course you get paid enough in which case you can pay the fine and move along. Any names come to mind?

Have you heard?

Michael Jackson's accuser admitted to lying under oath in seperate cases. Ok first of all has it been brought up that Michael Jackson for years denied his race until he got into more trouble with this latest molestation charge. Now he is a black man under fire.

Gee Michael how you keep your fans is beyond me, To use race as why your being dragged into court. That is not the issue ... the issue; you like little boys and you need help.

Your the butt of alot of jokes yet you still act so brazen
My favorite joke was Jay Leno, The Tonight Show

• "A former security guard said he saw Michael performing sex acts. It's pretty amazing when you consider his first two wives never even saw that."

and how do you get the women pregnant ? By injection other then using your cock?

You are the only man I know who could sit in a room with candle light, nude with Madonna....ah maybe it would have been different if she looked like a little boy?

Please.... you should be happy in prison Jackson.

Today’s discussion is the case of Terri Schiavo's

I know this reply is untimely, but having just come across this post, I'll go ahead and give a counterpoint anyway. Most states either have laws passed by its legislative body or court decisions that describe the rights of people who are either physically or mentally unable to express their own wishes about the extent of care that should be applied to keep them alive. Those laws vary from state to state. Florida's laws are not particularly stringent. Mr. Schiavo followed Florida's laws.

1. He petitioned the court to be appointed his wife's guardian and the court approved that appointment. Terri's parents had the opportunity to challenge this appointment and either didn't challenge it or failed to convince a judge they should have been appointed rather than her husband. Most states give a preference for spouses as guardians over parents as guardians.

2. Mr. Schiavo later petitioned the court asking permission to remove her feeding tube because Terri had told him when she was alive and well that she wished to die under her now present circumstances. Mr. Schiavo presented his evidence to prove his version of Terri's wishes. Her parents presented their evidence to the contrary.

A judge heard this evidence and made the following rulings.

A) Mr. Schiavo had proved that Terri had expressed an opinion that she should die under these circumstances.

B) The law in the State of Florida permitted the removal of a feeding tube and the resultant death under these circumstances.

Terri's parents appealed this ruling through the Florida courts to the Florida Supreme Court and even to the U S Supreme Court. In the end, the trial court judge's decision was upheld. To make a much longer story short, the tube was removed and she died.

It was Terri's wish to die under these circumstances as proven to the court.

Was the method of death barbaric? Yes, but physician assisted suicide is not legal in either Florida or under federal law, so no physician would simply give her a shot of a lethal substance and kill her mercifully. Maybe our laws about physician assisted suicide should be changed.

Was Mr. Schiavo right to keep the parents and family out of the hospital room at the moment of Terri's death? Probably not, but that has nothing to do with the underlying question of whether or not she should have been permitted die.

Was Mr. Schiavo right to cremate her and bury her without her family's participation? Probably not, but again, irrelevant to the bigger question.

Was Mr. Schiavo right to live with another woman and create another family while his wife lay in a hospital, unable to function? Probably not, but whether he was a good man or a bad man does not change the simple fact that he attempted to his best to carrry out his wife's expressed wishes to die.

Was the fact that the family offered to care for Terri even relevant? No. It was Terri's wish to die under these circumstances. Her family should have set aside their personal feelings of loss and allowed Terri to control her own destiny.

I find it fascinating that conservatives cried out for Terri to be saved by reinserting her feeding tube. My understanding of a true conservative is one who believes that government should leave people alone to live their own peaceful and lawful lives without unwanted government intrusion. Mr. Schiavo already had proven Terri's wishes to die. What true conservative would try to undermine those wishes.

Interestingly, I live in Michigan and as I understand Michigan's laws on this subject, the feeding tube would not have been removed. Michigan imposes a higher burden on this type of action than does Florida. I don't believe Mr. Shiavo would have met his burden of proof here.

Enough said.

Your right ,laws need to be changed....an animal is giving a decent death when being put down...to be thirst to death is horrible, painful and very degrading. I do believe Terri was trying to say I want to live. But the doctors of course said it was nothing....she was on medicade the State didn't want to pay for another twenty years. Its a shame for humans to have to suffer so when an animals death is so much merciful.
Your right....enough said lets let her *Rest In Peace * Thanks for your point of view.
