The use of lyrics in a story

Off the cuff, what are the Lit rules regarding the use of lyrics in a story? How much of a song may be used?

I know we've covered this before, but I cannot find the thread.

Not sure of specifics, but i've read stories in here with lyrics quoted within the text. I guess as long as you put a note somewhere regarding the origin of the lyrics etc, then it shouldn't be a problem?

Does this mean you are penning an entry for the Hallowe'en contest?

Does that include an acknowledgement at the end of the story? I mean, if it's clear within the story who the artist is, is the acknowledgement still necesarry?

Yes. Include the song and artist name (or lyricist).
