The US wants to make 9/11 a

the phrases 9/11 and holiday in the same sentence make me cringe.

how about a national day of mourning for all those killed in terrorist attacks througout our history?

holiday? that brings to mind happiness b/c I don't have school, cookout, and happy things. Bad word choice there.

holiday my ass. Why, so we can give it the same reverance we do Veteran's Day or Memorial Day? Come to the JC Penney 9/11 sale for 30% off on all appliances? Gag.

Should be a memorial day.

How many kids would take the day from school to play and not give a damm what happened.

i'm already cringin' at what the media and the politicians are going to do with the first anniversary. my personal opinion is...commemorate it this year and then let it drop. just my opinion

Holiday? Bullshit. Should be a day of morning.
How can you consider it a holiday (parades, fun) when thinking about 9/11. Sick, truly sick

Do you believe everything you get in email?

Cos I have a way to make you 70K in three weeks.

I think I have to work 9/11....in downtown manhattan. I'm not liking this at all.

edit----btw...can i tell you how much I'm not looking forward to watching the tower footage over and over and over again? Like it wasn't horrific enough the first time

I'd celebrate it with beer and hot dogs

I think each 11th of September a special gathering at churches should be set in order. Combining a day of memorium with a day rejoicing our freedom would be the perfect way to honor those brave souls that perished in those tragic events. Heavystick celebrating and honoring the American way, with beer and hot dogs is a tribute that should make no one embarrassed. I'm sure those good firemen, police officers, port authority officials, and army officers would give each of us a hearty SALUD! from up above.

what if we're not religious? I personally dislike churches and organized religion (I grew up catholic...can you blame me?).

It's called memorial day we don't need another federal holiday.

What grieving. to them a holiday is a day to play..
Make it a day of remembrance..
Novermber 11 used to be a holiday in Canda from school. Untill they stopped it and made it into a school day where we learned all about what happened that day..

I'll keep you both in my prayers. I still feel honoring a day like September 11th would do wonders to help unite this country and could forever preserve the spirit of freedom in all our hearts.

That would be my point, only I don’t see that as a bad thing.

For a few years at least.

Holiday - No...........Memorial Day - OK.........Personally I'd like to see the twin towers (w/a memorial park between them) rebuilt to show our resolve to not allow others to destroy that which was built without our permission, and also to show our respect for (All)those who perished the 11th day of September.

I certainly don't think I will need it declared a holiday to remember it as the nost shitty fucked up horrible day I ever had thanks

memorial commemmorates those soldiers who died in battle. this is a little different.

Technically it was created for those who lost in service during the civil war. Since then it has been used to commemorate all those Americans who have died in time of and as a cause of war, both civillians and servicemen.

9/11 of last year basically shut the whole country down...do we really need to shut the country down every year like those terroist assholes did.

They'd give a damn as much as the typical 20-something year old gives a damn about the MLK jr. assassination or the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
