Cole was sitting with his rugby coach. This was not a conversation he wanted to be having. His grades had faltered to the point where he stood a chance of losing his place on the team, his ride, his very life in the University.

"Sorry son but you need a C average. You have now got a D in two classes, this just isn't good enough." Coach Moore said from across his desk. Cole, knew this was going to happen, he had never been a good student, he instead chose to party and play sports. "We have a very good group of tutors, they've done wonders for many players in the past. We have those who are students and others who are past alumni. If you want I'll get you some names and set you up." Coach Moore worded like Cole had an option but the truth was he didn't.

"If that's what I need to do, then let's do it! I would prefer a female tutor, I find I listen more to women teaching me then men!" Cole said standing up. He shook the coaches hand and headed to his large dorm room which he shared a fellow player. It was late September and early in the season. This couldn't have happened at a worse time for Cole being a junior he had another full year and couldn't afford to lose his ride just then.

It was a little over an hour before he got a call from his coach, he gave Cole four names for tutors, he looked them over and called one that seemed promising. He dialed the number. There was no answer but a pleasant voice asked him to leave a message.

"Hi this is Cole Bryant, I got this number from Coach Moore. Anyway I am in need of a tutor at this time for my English and my Math. Please give me a call back at your earliest convenience. Thanks." He hung up and not wanting to see anybody he grabbed his trainers and went for a run. He had his phone and knew he wouldn't miss her call.

It was still early that Thursday morning. The crisp Oklahoma air was refreshing on his skin. He still needed to call his on again, off again girl friend Rachel and with it being Friday that meant that there would be a party that night. He wondered if he should even bother going, he had to many other things to do and knew it would be irresponsible for him to go, he also knew if he cancelled Rae would be pissy with him. He ran harder trying to force such idiotic thoughts from him mind.

Lillian sighed as she got to her dorm room and plopped her stack of books on the table. Lillian wasn't sighing because of all the homework, oh no. Lillian loved homework, it took away from the rest of life, and the more challenging and the more time it took, the better. No Lillian was sighing because she had no friends, no other life beside school and her work as a tutor and would probably never find a guy who was hot and would actually work like she did. No that was impossible to Lillian. So Lillian decided to start on her homework and looked at her cellphone to see if she had any messages from anyone who wanted a tutor. To her surprise there was a message from an unknown number and Lillian listened, before freezing.

Then Lillian replayed the message to make sure she had heard correctly. Cole Bryant. This had to be a joke. The most popular guy in school and who's girlfriend would make Lillian's life miserable if she even got close, that guy?! That was not possible. Lillian replayed it a third time to make sure she wasn't dreaming and sure enough it was him. Lillian sighed. Great, a popular guy with a reputation wanted her, the girl who tried to be as invisible as possible, to tutor him. Lillian sighed and tried doing doing some of her work for about ten minutes before it got to her and she decided, oh well. What would it hurt, he would probably quit after a week so she decided to call him. She would accept but he probably wouldn't accept her conditions, since he was mister popular and had "better things to do than do homework and learn." Which was why Lillian had no friends. Oh there where stories of geeks and nerds who had a bunch of friends but, that was fantasy, not real life. Everyone had their own little cliches by the time Lillian found some people, so never had a friend. All she had was tutoring and homework, and her computer games that she loved. Lillian waited to hear the phone be picked up as it rang, wondering if Cole did agree, how she would avoid his girlfriend.

As he ran Cole went over the up coming fight with Rae, she hated going to parties with out him and he hated being with her after she was hammered. What was he even doing with her. Sure she was hot, popular and was, when not being a bitch a real blast to be around. Then there was the sex. Ya that was it. It was the sex. Rae was nuts in the sack. But there had to be more to life then that. Now he loved sex almost as much as rugby, but was it enough to maintain a relationship with her.

He was rounding his second lap around the Oklahoma University sports campus which housed all the building for all the sports, including football, basketball and his beloved rugby. He had his choice for football and played it up to high school, then he fell in love with the brutality and the gracefulness of rugby. Football he was only on the field half the time being a linebacker, in rugby he played the full eighty as a blindside flanker. He was still very popular being one of the best players in the country, he wasn't bad looking and was in awesome shape, none of that mattered really when he thought about it. It was all superficial.

He felt his pocket vibrate and his music stopped switching to his unknown caller ring.

"Hello this is Cole!" He said in a polite yet slightly winded voice. It was Lillian the tutor. "Hi good to hear from you so soon. Well like I said I need help with Math and English. Sure we can meet. I am free after practice which should be at five tonight. Do you know where the rugby field is? Well there it a nice cafe right up the block let's say... we meet at six. I'll bring my work and you can see where I'm at. Thanks again and see you tonight." He hung up. "That's one hurdle done. Then there was Rae and the boys about the party." He said resuming the run.
