House, Senate committees want Trump tapes, Comey memos
Published June 10, 2017 Fox News

House and Senate lawmakers leading the Russia investigation have asked the White House to produce tapes President Trump hinted might exist of a conversation between him and ousted FBI Director James Comey. They also made a formal request to the Comey camp for copies of the memos he testified he made to document the meetings.

The requests come on the heels of explosive allegations by Comey and a string of strong denials by Trump over the abrupt dismissal of the FBI director and the circumstances surrounding it.

Comey testified Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee that he’d given a memo that detailed a conversation with Trump to his friend, Daniel Richman, a law professor at Columbia University.

On Friday, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, reached out to Comey’s confidant and the committee confirmed Saturday that they had been in touch with Richman about the memo.

“Mr. Richman has had direct contact with the Committee about the request for the memos.,” the committee told Fox News. “Staff for Special Counsel Mueller and the Committee are also in discussions about that request and others, in preparation for a meeting between Mueller and Committee leadership.”

Richman confirmed to Fox News he met with Senate lawmakers through the office of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is spearheading the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Mueller is also looking into whether anyone in the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.

Richman told Fox News that the Special Council’s office “will discuss the memo production issue on Monday.”

Guess what, there are NO tapes, that was just Trump, bring Trump.....now he poured gas on the already cooking bonfire....

Put the Twitter away Trump..............christ sake!

He may not have taped Comey the first time Comey admited there is no Trump/Russia investigation, but I would bet he taped the next two.

Unlike Nixon, because criminal conspiracy after the fact existed, Trump retains executive privilege. He can release part of the tape or none of it if he wants too. politically though because nobody understands anything this Dems will demand every tape if he releases part. if he doesn't they will continue to play the what is he hiding game. This is absolutely endlessly nothing.

and Trump Tower is bugged? He says things....he's nuts.

Why he wanted all this, why he wanted to become President, I'll never know. We may never know.....

Let me ask you 2 questions.

1. Do we actually know Trump Tower WASN'T bugged? As Prez, Trump has access to info we don't, so can we presume that the building/phone lines/internet/etc was clean of ALL gov surveillance?

2. As to what the word "bugged" means; Does it only apply to a physical device inside your lamp shade or under a chair seat planted by the FBI/CIA? Or, if you have a phone conversation and LEO is listening in an unmarked van down on the street, is that what bugged means? What if the phone call is over the internet via Skype and they're sweeping the whole thing into a data cache? Or using one of those electronic listening cones? Vibration sensing of sound waves hitting the glass window? What if it's just your internet browsing history that's being examined from the logs at your ISP or Google? Or your email being computer scanned for key words?

Does "bugged" apply to ONLY voice over phone lines? Or to all surveillance techniques?

It did prompt Comey into committing a crime.

No, but the fact that the story has hit the back page, I'd say it was a bluff. Otherwise, why not release that information?

This has always been a game of semantics with the left. The real story here is that Obama was spying on his political opponents. We'll see what kind of price the Deep State pays when 702 comes up for reauthorization later this year and whether or not people will be prosecuted.

Nowdays no one blackbags it Watergate style. The NSA vacumns up everything and archives it. If you want to listen to anything after tge fact you put in a request and listen to that recording, or whistle up a transcription of same.

In theory the president's own communication should go through Fort Meade be scrambled and nobody should be able to touch that but I'm quite sure that they can and do.

Guess what, there are NO tapes, that was just Trump, bring Trump...
Probably yeah. Problem with that though is that since Jan 20, it's not just Trump Trumping. It's The President Of The United States Of America, Trumping.

I imagine Obama made the tapes, and we wont hear them till 2020 when Hillary runs again. And all here will gasp OMG.

The tape will sound like a Led Zeppelin LP played backwards.

Orgasms for all.

"That it? So I gotta turn the knob and push the thing OK.
Hello. (inaudible)
Testing.
Jack and Jill went up the hill and Jill came. Yeah, I see the lights going.
(inaudible)
Nuclear subs are heading to Qatar. See what they make of that. Comey is a sissy beanstalk boy.
(inaudible)
OK I think we got it."

It's not absurd at all. It's just that you don't know the law so that makes it "absurd" in your unprepared mind.

I do know the law. Comey took nothing of value from the government. He gave his own thoughts to a friend, thoughts which contained no classified information. And there is no law against doing that. Quit being a partisan fool.

Trump Senate Testimony:

Susan Collins: Mr. President, that sounds like Jeff Sessions impersonating James Comey on that tape.

Trump: That's what you think.

Senator Collins: But he has a thick Southern accent. James Comey does not have a Southern accent.

Trump: Yes he does.

Collins: Did you create a fake tape to exonerate yourself?

Trump: He's the leaker.

Collins: That doesn't answer my question.

Trump: I never said "Israel." Never said it.

Collins: And that sounds like Sean Spicer pretending to be you.

Trump: Why would he do that? I hardly know the guy. Hardly know him.

Collins: I can hear Kelly Ann in the background.

Trump: Ha! That's what you think. It was Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Fake news! Wrong!

Actually he forced Comey to testify more closely to the truth than Comey had telegraphed that he would...

;) ;)

And just today, busybody has posted that the memo has been deleted (AKA a Hillary) and that the only thing floating around is the description he gave his buddy of what the memos said.

This is sit back with some popcorn fun.

He sure put a white hot spotlight on the leaks with that tactic...

I agree with you only in the sense that there never was an actual memo. Had he actually typed a contemporaneous memo up and then later read the contents of it to his friend, he would have violated the law. Taking government property doesn't have to have any monetary value.

Without a doubt he violated the FBI's confidentiality agreement, which specifically addresses disclosures one might make post separation from the FBI. To even begin to disclose anything he would have to check with the FBI first and ask them if he could disclose it.

Comey said he made the memo on his work laptop and printed it on his office printer. Perhaps you should know the following:

A government document is defined by the U.S. Code as any informational matter printed by the U.S. government, at government expense or as required by law, 44 USC 1901

Comey wrote the memo on his government issued and owned laptop in his official FBI office. He printed it on a Government owned printer. It was a GOVERNMENT DOCUMENT not his thoughts.

It contained information regarding a conversation with the President in his office as relating to the confidential and possibly classified business of the United States and the FBI.

He "gave it" to someone not authorized to receive it.

Said unauthorized person then "gave it" to the news media.

Short version for the intelligence impaired: Comey gave an official government document to an unauthorized person. That is either misuse of government property or espionage if the document contained any confidential or classified information.

It was a bad decision of Trumpian proportions and he should be treated accordingly by one and all, especially those who think Trump has done everything wrong since before the first Republican debate.

But then again, these people voted for Hillary not because she was honest, but that in their view, she was just a slightly bit less slimy...
