Big Mac had just picked up a load of machine parts from a warehouse. As he was leaving, he heard an old friend on the radio. "Got ya ears on Big Mac, this here's Crazy C."

"Ya got me CC" I respond to my long time friend.

"I'm head in to shakytown with a load of rocks how bout you?"

"I'm on the flip flop headin' to the friendly with scrap metal. I ain't got the 10-36 to stop and get some java juice. Gotta get them greenstamps."

"Heard that driver, maybe on the flip flop." Crazy C came back.

"Fer shure fer shure. I'm moving on." I hung up my mic smiling at hearing from Crazy C. I threw my rig into granny and pulled out into the dirt road leading to the highway.

I popped in a well used CD and skipped ahead to track 7. The opening notes of Willie Nelson strumming on his guitar always helped my mind focus on the drive ahead, and as long as I listened to him sing in about being On The Road Again, I had never been in an accident.

As the song died out, I was feeling pretty good, after this trip, I would be a member of the million mile club. Something I had wanted to earn since my dad showed me his award. Driving 1million miles without a ticket, accident, fright damage, or late delivery was no small feat.

Amy stood along the highway, still pissed at her old man. The lazy S.O.B. still had no fucking job, other than that piece of crap Xbox one. Her job barely made ends meet and when she needed to get home to see her mom, all he could say was, "that's what thumbs are for. Use your money maker." Then he let out a laugh. She was pretty sure he wasn't laughing as she walked out after kicking him in the balls and kicking the Xbox down the stairs. Now, after a couple hours of walking, she was tired and ready to look for a ride from a stranger.

Big Mac saw a person on the side of the road ahead. He looked for a car and didn't see one. Reviewing the last few miles he didn't remember seeing one either. Slowing to a stop I passed the figure, that he could tell was female, and had her thumb out, but not much else. He slowed the rig down and pulled onto the shoulder.

He sat in the truck, waiting for her to walk up to the door. He couldn't see her in his mirror, so he was about to put the hammer down, when a musical voice floated into his ears. Looking out the open drivers window, he saw her, and what a her he thought as he stared down into her cleavage.

"Where ya headin' young lady?" he asked tipping his hat to her and raising his sunglasses to see her better.

Amy was nervous when the truck slowed and stopped. Taking a deep breath, she slowly walked up to the drivers door. She was totally unaware that her backpack had caused a button to pop on her top, revealing more of her 32c cleavage than she normallyrics showed.
"Hi....I'm going to Easton, just south of Shadytown. I'm afraid I don't have much cash, but I promise not to be a bother. Can you atleast get me farther down the road?" She asks, while flashy her big Brown eyes.

"Not quite on my route." I tell her, "but I can make a detour. Hop on in, If you dare." I say winking at her.

Grateful for the ride, Amy steps around and climbs into the truck. As she takes off her backpack, she see that a button is missing. Then the cool air of the cab hits her and despite the hot day, she regrets her shorts and thin shirt. Being polite she says. "Thank you so much. If you can just get me close, well closer that would be so great. You are a life saver."

"Mine if we turn the Air up a little? I don't want to be a pain", she says. "Oh, by the way, I am Amy. Amy Schenks. And you are?"

"Hey Amy, everyone calls me by my handle Big Mac, but you can call me Mac." I say as I put the trick in gear and move onto the blacktop. Reaching over to the controls I lower the air a bit. "If that's still too much, you can close the vents on your side."

I shift up as I get the loaded truck moving down the road again. "So how'd you end up way out here with no ride?" I ask opening my cooler and pulling out a bottle of Gatorade. "OH and help yourself, I got Iced Tea, Lemonade, and Mountain Dew in the cooler, and some snacks in the box behind it." I tell her.

Grateful for something to drink, she leans over to get a lemonade out. As she leans over, Amy gives Big Mac another great view of her breasts. Just as she reaches the can, she realizes that fact and lets out an audible "oh" and sits up quickly.

"Um, so how did I end up here with no ride?" I let out a long sigh. "Well, my mom fell, nothing broke, just bruised up and I need to get back to see her. Our car got reprocessed a month ago. My lazy, good for nothing husband quit his job about a year ago and hasn't worked since. My job barely pays the rent." And for twenty minutes I lay out why I was walking. "I know Tony means well, and I'm glad he takes me to work and all. But I told my Husband Bill that his brother kind of creeps me out. So I'm walking, because Bill would not ask his brother for his car to take me hime."

Shaking my head at how people get themselves in these positions. "Sorry about your troubles." I say. "Just curious, do you have money for food and stuff or..." I ask not wanting to seem like a leech.

Another sigh. "I don't have much, but I do have some cd's I could give you." I reach into my backpack. " I have Guns n Roses, Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Nickleback and oh, how about Halo or Grand Theft Auto. They were Bills, i grabbed them on the way out, Fuck him. Sorry, I'm just a little angry. I don't think I have much of anything else. Sorry. You can have any of the things I said." Trying to keep my ride but fearing it was about to end.

I take a deep breath. "Well we can figure it out." I say glancing over at her. 'Don't worry about it right now." I tell her as I turn onto the highway. I quickly work my way up the gears and soon we're cruising along at 70 in the hammer lane.

"So Amy, tell me about yourself." he asks settling in for the long drive.

"Not much to tell. I'm 21, been married 4 years. I'm the oldest of 4 kids, the only girl. I didn't care for my mom's latest husband, so I left with my high school sweetheart. We came here cause he got a great job at the caterpillar plant. Have not seen Momma in awhile, but she divorced that pervert. So I think I can finally go home asked see my family." Amy says, looking out the windows the whole time. "Wow, this truck rides nice." She says looking around. Finally looking at her driver. "So what's up with you? How long you been drivin? Got a wife at home?"

"Nope, no wife." I tell her. "I got my CDL on my 21st birthday. My old man was a gearjammer, and every summer when my buddies went to summer camp and made lanyards, I rode with him, learning about trucks and this wonderful country. When Dad hit 1 and 2 million miles I was with him. It took him 11 years for the first and 12 for the second. I decided that I wanted my first million in 5 years. I should hit that on this trip right around Watergate City."

I hit my air horn as a four wheeler cuts me off making me slam on my brakes and only my years of experience stop the truck from jackknifing.

"That'll jump start yer heart" I say glancing at Amy, making sure she's okay.

"Asshole!" Amy exclaims, then glances over at Big Mac. Her mouth open and a big grin forming. "Wow, that was crazy. How did we not crash?" A gleam in her eyes, "wow, a million miles? That is awesome. How are you going to celebrate? Wish I could see that." Somehow the thrill of the near accident has picked up Amy's spirits.

"Skill." is all he says about not crashing. Once I hit a million miles, I plan on celbrating buy buying this here rig and starting my own trucking company. This is my last load hauling for someone else." he tells her smiling.

Amy looks at Big Mac with a new sense of admiration. He was a man reaching for his goals and on the verge of reaching them. Meanwhile she was stuck in a marriage to a boy pretending to be a man. Her only goals seemed to be paying the bills, while he did nothing but play his stupid games. This thought brought a chuckle as she thought about her exit move.

"Big Mac, that sounds awesome! I'm glad to know someone who has goals and actually reached them, well almost." She paused a moment, thinking of how much cash she had. "I don't have much money, like I said, so if we find some place cheap I......I would like to buy you something to eat. You know, to celebrate." Amy couldn't believe herself, but she felt she had to at least offer this kind man something.

That's sweet darlin'" he says looking at her and giving her a big smile. "But you don't have a job, I assume your mom isn't working. So you'll need something to live on when you get there right?" he asks her

"How about you let me worry about food stuff on this trip, and you do something nice for someone when you get back on your feet."

A bit prideful Amy speaks up, "I have a job, I don't make much but I work hard. Momma worked until she fell and should be back to work soon." Then looking down, "it's Billy that doesn't do anything." She looks out the window mournfully. "Billy does nothing at all."
Amy looks over at the man driving the truck. Sure he is older than her, but at least he is a man. A man who takes care of himself. Not for the first time she thinks about leaving Billy, just never going back. Lost in her thoughts, she forgets she is looking at Mac for a few minutes. When she notices him looking at her and smiling, shat askes what but he just shakes his head and chuckles. "You ever been married Mac?" She askes after a few more miles down the road.

"Darlin' no offense intended. But how long will they hold yer job if yer runnin off to mommas? What is it about four or five hunndred miles? That's a helluva commute. Besides are you really comin' back here? to the loser you just left? MY opinion, stay with momma, divorce the deadbeat, and find a good man. Yer young, you ain't got any ankle biters, and yer purdy. Lots of guys would snatch ya up right quick?"

Amy tears up. "I have a weeks.....a week's vacation and then I'm due back." They sit in silence for a few minutes. "I don't want to go back, to work or him." More silence. "I'm not sure I want to even....." she trails off and looks out the side mirror. The tears flow. "Do you....do you really think...sniff, sniff.....that I'm pretty? " Amy never thought of herself as pretty. Sure she wasn't fat or skin and bones. She didn't smoke or take drugs. Sure guys at work hit on her, but she always told herself they hit on everyone.

"Well darlin, you ain't never gonna be a fashion model. But who wants one of them. They look like 10 year old boys with plums in their shirt pockets. You look like a woman should. Shaped like an hour glass with an extra ten minutes thrown in for good measure. Yer face is pretty, and you have very kind eyes."

He smiles over at her. "I wouldn't kick you out of bed on a cold night." he teases her.

That brings a big smile, and then a laugh to Amy. "Well thank you Mac. Makes me kind of wish it wasn't summer." Just as the words escape, her eyes go big. She gasps and says, "Sorry, I should never had said that. I just wanted to return the compliment." She bites her lips as she looks over at Mac and his grin. "Oh, you are awful." She says with a laugh. A laugh they both share.

"Well now that you brought up sleeping arrangements, I think you should know I sleep back there," he gestures to the rear of the truck where there was a small sleeping area. Most flob boxes ask for too many greenstamps, so unless you wanna sleep standing up, or during teh day while I drive..." he looks at her and then at the bed.

"I promise I won't do nuttin' you don't want me too." he tells her.

"I always wondered where truckers slept. I have to warn you, I didn't bring anything to sleep in." Amy says with a wicked smile. "Maybe I can find a way to pay you for my ride." She adds with a slight blush, as she tries to be a little seductive by tracing a finger from her lips to the top of her cleavage. Cleavage she now no longer tried to cover up from Mac.
