The Tigress Is Back In Town!!

Well.....I haven't completely gone away from Lit......been
very busy w/ the "LOVE CAFE" over in The Playground
plus w/ the CT, NYC, & New England area threads, & more
currently, an Anthony Hopkins fanclub thread on the GB.

This poem I started to write way back in January, but
was unable to finish it until two days ago........the right
"ending" just couldn't come to me.........but here it is,
well worth the wait......

Welcome back to the poetry board, tj!

I have a question about your rhyme in Black Velvet Dream
In the last two stanzas it's ABCB. The first stanza doesn't appear to have any rhyme, unless it's robe and go. And I'm not sure about the second stanza. Are you rhyming 40s with glory, which would be ABCB like the last two? Or are you rhyming paramour and glamour (ABAC)?

Good idea for a poem. The starlets were very glamorous in the 40s. I can picture the black velvet and boa.

I think the only change I would suggest would be in the last stanza.
"standing on stage
starlet is pure as cream
but inside wicked
she's the black velvet dream"
Something about "pure as cream" doesn't sound right with the rest of the poem. I understand what you're saying. Her public persona is one of innocence, but in reality she is a wicked woman (nothing wrong with that ) But if you could find another way to say it.
