Reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock's movie, "Rear Window" from 1954, rated as his best, won lots of awards, and is cited in the top 100 movies of all time. Of course being in the time when crime could not pay, and endings all had to be happy ones, it has a super sappy happy ending to it, but it need not.
