The Sleep Questionnaire

1. How many hours' sleep do you get on average each night?

Barring insomnia, six to seven hours a night ...

2. What's your ideal bed time?
11 PM for me ... 10 PM for my partner ... so lights are out at 10 PM. It normally takes about an hour to fall asleep unless I'm particularly exhausted so it kind of works out in the end.

3. What's your ideal waking up time?
Weekday - It has become 6:30 AM. Later would be nice. :)

4. Would you consider yourself to have sleeping problems?
Yeah, I go through bouts of insomnia and it can take over an hour for me to fall asleep ...

5. Do you sleep with the window open or closed?
Closed ... due to allergies

6. How do you wind down for the night?
I'll watch a bit of TV, mess about on the internet, read, listen to music while lying in bed ... it depends.

7. What things have the potential to keep you awake at night, or disrupt your sleep?
Snoring. I've become pretty used to it and find it hard to fall asleep without it, but if I'm particularly restless or going through a bout of insomnia it is the most annoying thing ...

8. What do you do if you can't sleep?
Brood about not sleeping ...

Get up and read or check Lit.

9. What position do you sleep in?
Start on my back, end up on my stomach.

10. Do you rely on anything to give you a restful night's sleep? (not necessarily any substances - it can be aromatherapy oils, certain types of music etc.)

10. Do you rely on anything to give you a restful night's sleep? [only the TV and the dark.]

1 to 3 hours a night on a good night. I'm a severe insomniac.

Ideal bedtime? What's that? I turn off the light and stare at the ceiling until my eyes finally close.

I'm up at 5 a.m. every morning to take my dogs out.

Sleeping problems? Definitely

Open all year long, I can't sleep in a stuffy room.

Winding down means staring at the ceiling and making up stories in my head.

Everything keeps me awake, but pain is the biggie.

I write when I know for sure I'm not sleeping.

I can only sleep on my side. Otherwise the nerve damage in my back acts up.

Nothing I take can help. Painkillers I take everynight.

I've had raging insomnia for the last fortnight, and need as many ideas as I can get, folks :rose:

1. How many hours' sleep do you get on average each night?
2. What's your ideal bed time?
3. What's your ideal waking up time?
4. Would you consider yourself to have sleeping problems?
5. Do you sleep with the window open or closed?
6. How do you wind down for the night?
7. What things have the potential to keep you awake at night, or disrupt your sleep?

9. What position do you sleep in?

1) None to 14 hours. It cycles in periods of a week to ten days. One period is very little to no sleep, then slowly changes into fourteen hours. Its HORRID.
2) Eleven. Never happens though.
3) About nine-tenish
4) I have diagnosed sleeping problems but the medication doesn't work >.<
5) Depends on the weather. Unless its freezing its usually open a crack.
6) Sex. No, seriously. Mark is a wonderful sleep aid :)
7) I can sleep on a bus but I can't sleep in my room sometimes. Go figure. If I'm in one of my "no-sleep" cycles the slightest thing will keep me awake.
8) Play Warcraft. Read. Drink tea.
9) I move around a lot, so no real particular position.
10) If all else fails its a glass of wine >.< bad I know.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who responded and came up with suggestions  You guys are absolutely fantastic.

I've had two decent nights' sleep, but I've been exhausted on both occasions, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Fingers crossed, anyway :rose:
