OMFG

OMG My Father bought me The Sims for Xmas and I haven't put it down since. I clean their houses and put more into the Sim relationships than I do my own LOL! My only problem is that I got a BRAND new Compaq also and It won't work on there, so I held off selling my gateway until I can figure out why the hell it won't work on THIS ONE!

ALl I know is that the startup screen for The Sims is TOO BIG and goes off screen and the game will NOT load up at all.

I called the hotline and they're dumb and couldn't help me and i'm afraid I am too untechnical to fix it


(Also where can I download all the naked skins and uncensor stuff hehehehe) I already have the code for money, where can I get more (The other codes I found DONT WORK!)

The Sims, as much fun as it is, is a resource HOG! Yes, it can take forever to load and you need a lot of RAM and processor.

Downloads:

Ok...when you save the file to disk did you put it in a special folder? I made one entitled "Sims" and put it on my desktop. That is where I unzip all my files from. When you do the unzip, you have to make damn sure it is going to the files used to play the game...example:

I want to download a skin. I save the skin to the file C:\Windows\Desktop\Sims Then, I go into the file, right click on it (some of them are already in zip format, so you do not need to select "unzip" from the menu) and select unzip.

You will then get the unzip screen up...when you go into it to "extract" the file, make sure you save it to...and yours should be pretty much the same name...
C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\Downloads
It should work...if not...ugh!!! That's how I did mine.

Now for the cheats and extras:

Please visit http://www.thesims.com on that site, they have many things, some downloads, a cool BBS and chat, but also links to fan sites where you can download all sorts of wonderful things for your sims. Such as...naked sims...and I'm telling you PENISES galore...or boobies, if you like...They are graphic. You will have to do some research...if nothing else, post on the BBS, you will have a handful of answers within a few minutes...these people want you to learn what you need to know...trust me.

Money cheat: rosebud

If you add ;!;!;! a zillion times after the word "rosebud", you will get TONS of cash. Just keep doing it until you have what you need to buy that awesome house...or whatever your little sim heart desires.

Have you installed the latest DirectX drivers? That would be my first guess.

ok, now I'm mad. My sims cd work fine except when i click on one of my families houses, it cuts off and goes back to the desktop. I don't know if it's the family or the house. I evicted them and tried to move them into another house and it cut off, so I went back to bulldozed their old house and it cut off when I clicked on the house. What on earth can be wrong now? If I uninstall and reinstall, will I lose everything?

Hello to all. I've been reading some of your comments and complaints about 'The Sims'. I have had my eye on the product for some time and I'm wondering if I should. Some say it's the best game ever. Others say it runs too slow on their new computers. I have an Intel Celeron 700 MHz, 64 MB and a 20GB HD. Will this be enough??? I'd hate to buy it and then find out I don't have enough of something or it runs too slow. Suggestions, anyone?

Fantasy Goddess...if you uninstall and reinstall you will lose everything. The game is crashing. Did you teleport a family or a house? If you downloaded one or both of these from a site, that could be the problem.

Go to http://www.thesims.com and download "File Cop". You will have to run it each time you download a skin, wall, object, anything...because they could be corrupted. After you run file cop, it will tell you if you have bad files and remove them for you...that way, you don't have to lose all your info. Hope this helps. Another thing...when you go to start the game, there is a green(?) check mark, beside the check mark is says Check for Patches...run this, too. You could have gotten a corrupt CD.

Sorry! I installed it onto the 4 year old gateway. Works great is just slow.

Installed it onto the 2 week old compaq.... it freezes at teh first screen and will NOT load up. plus no matter how many times I fix the screen rez, it always is too big for my screen. Its so odd.

yeah..it will repare any misplaced files, which is usually the cause of that.

I had another baby boy, he looks nothing like the rest of the family. His names is James. I had to make several changes to my families humble abode but everything seems to be working out great. The kids are on the second floor and mom and dad are on the first. I can't believe I have my own soap opera going on.
